A bit about Leeds

Leeds is a vibrant English city located in West Yorkshire. Leeds is the third biggest city in England and is the England´s second largest Legal centre outside of London. 

Leeds has so much to offer it´s visitor. The city is a thriving mecca for shoppers; culture vultures and sporting fans. When you visit Leeds you will find a plethora of restaurants, bars and clubs to keep you entertained, and that´s before you visit any of the many local attractions. Once you have booked an apartment in Leeds with Serviced City Pads you will find plenty to do and see. Getting to Leeds

Leeds is well located in the centre of the British motorway network. The A1 and M1 link Leeds to the north and South, with the M62 linking East and West. A ringroad makes access from either motorway straightforward.

If you are travelling to Leeds by train, you will enter into Leeds city train station (the busiest station outside of Central London). The station is located by City Square which is in the heart of Leeds city centre.

Leeds Bradford airport the fastest growing regional airport in the UK with daily flights to all of the major European destinations. Leeds Bradford airport is situated 11 mile north west of Leeds city centre and is served by a Metro Connect bus service. This is probably a more efficient way of reaching the airport rather than driving in and out of Central Leeds. 

Eating out in Leeds

As you would expect from a city the size of Leeds, there are a wide selection of fantastic restaurants to choose from during your stay in Leeds. Shopping in and around Leeds

As a Northern economic powerhouse you would expect to find a dazzling array of shops across Leeds, and you wouldn´t be disappointed. There are a number of destinations whether you are wanting to pick up some designer threads or high street fashion whilst visiting Leeds. 

The Victoria Quarter is the self styled premiere fashion and lifestyle destination of the North. Situated in Grade 2 listed buildings in Leeds city centre you will find 75 world famous fashion and lifestyle brands from Louis Vuitton to Paul Smith, Vivienne Westwood to Mulberry and many more in Harvey Nichols. 

The Light is also situated in the heart of Leeds and is home to many cafes, bars and restaurants as well as a wide variety of shops such as Lacoste, Benetton and The Body Shop. You could spend all day eating, shopping and drinking without leaving The Light.

Clarence Dock is another mixed use development with shops including G-Star, All Saints, Replay and Rock Couture. Clarence Dock is situated next to Leeds Royal Armouries.

Other shopping destinations of note in Leeds are the Corn Exchange and White Rose Centre.

Drinking in Leeds

Whether you fancy a pint of Bitter or a pre-dinner cocktail there are plenty of options for a drink in Leeds city centre. Here are just a few of those options brought to you by Serviced City Pads:

The Viaduct is situated on the ever popular Lower Briggate in Leeds city centre. A traditional pub where you can enjoy a pint of Tetley smooth and great pub food.

Leeds Theatre

Sport in Leeds

Leeds is city that is mad about sport, primarily football, Cricket and Rugby League.

Leeds United Football Club play their home games at Elland Road. Their fortunes have ebbed and flowed over previous years, the high point of their recent history being a semi final appearance against Valencia in the Champions League 2001. Many England Test matches and Limited Overs matches are also staged at Headingley Carnegie.

Leeds Rhinos Rugby League team are one of the most feared teams in the Superleague. They play at Headingley (which sits back to back with the cricket ground in the Headingley suburb of Leeds). For fixtures and ticketing information go to www.leedsrugby.com.

Live Music in Leeds

If you want to see a live band play once you have checked into your apartment in Leeds, there are a number of live music venues:

Leeds has 2 universities both with Student Unions that host live music:

University of Leeds student union is situated at Back Cromer Terrace, LS2.

When it comes to talking abour Leeds and Live music it would be remiss not to mention The Leeds festival. This is an annual event (twinned with The Reading festival) held at Bramham Park, Leeds. This weekend festival takes place over August Bank Holiday and usually features some of the biggest live acts in the world. 

Local Attractions

Leeds Royal armories: The national collection of arms and armour is held in Leeds. Admission is Free. The museum is situated on Armouries Drive, LS10. For further information go to www.royalarmouries.org.  

Harewood House is a stunning country pile situated just outside Leeds and is a great place to visit to escape from the fast pace of Leeds city centre.
