Visiting your son or daughter at University in Birmingham

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

Are your children are studying away from home at Birmingham University, the University of Birmingham or Aston University? Wouldn’t it be nice to drop in to see how they are getting on (or what they are getting up to!)? Or maybe you are planning to come to visit Birmingham for their graduation or to help your son or daughter move house during the summer break. Quite often most students will find it difficult to accommodate you at their own place of residence when you come to visit them at University. Rather than staying in a hotel in Birmingham why not stay in a home from home at one of our serviced apartments in Birmingham city centre. Go to www.servicedcitypads.com to see the apartments we have on offer. If you’re looking for accommodation in Birmingham there is no better option than to spend your time in a self catering apartment which is fully serviced and equipped. At Serviced City Pads we have a range of apartments in the city centre to accommodate from 1 to 6 people per apartment. Visit our Birmingham serviced apartments page for more information about accommodation in Birmingham http://www.servicedcitypads.com/Birmingham-Serviced-Apartments/apartments.html or call our dedicated reservations team on 0844 335 8866.

Staybridge Suites: Serviced Apartments or hotel?

Monday, September 14th, 2009

Staybridge Suites have been operating in Liverpool’s Albert Dock for c.18 months and sit next to Jurys Inn opposite the Echo Arena and BT Convention Centre, yet the question still remains are Staybridge Suites in Liverpool serviced apartments or a hotel? The Suites are classified as four star serviced apartments but i think it is fair to say that Staybridge view themselves very much as a hotel. After Serviced City Pads visited the premises this afternoon it becomes clear that the product offering sits somewhere between hotel and apartment.
Chris Rose, Director at Serviced City Pads said, “The first thing to say is that Staybridge Suites would be a great place to stay in Liverpool, particularly for corporate stays in Liverpool. The location is fantastic, in the heart of the Albert Dock and opposite the new Arena and Convention centre. So if you are staying in Liverpool on business staying with Staybridge suites is a luxury option but at a reasonable price.
The mix of Suites (Studio and 1 bedroom) are much more than hotel rooms in that the guest is able to use the kitchen facilities to cook their own food, something you couldn’t do in a hotel. There are laundry facilities as well as an onsite gym that are free for visitors to use.
I think where they have something really positive to shout about is that four nights a week Staybridge host free events in their dining area where guests are given free food and drink. This is a great opportunity for corporate guests who are staying in Liverpool alone to meet other visitors. You probably wouldn’t get this in a hotel and i don’t know of any other serviced apartments in Liverpool that have a similar offering.
Access to wireless Broadband is Free of charge and a continental breakfast is included for corporate guests staying at Staybridge suites. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and decorated in ahomely fasahion”
Serviced City Pads, who are one of the leading booking agents for apartments in Liverpool will soon be including hotels in Liverpool on it’s website. Having Liverpool hotels listed on the site will greatly increase the bookings that Serviced City Pads can make it’s customers who are looking to stay in liverpool. Chris Rose continued, “We want to give customers the choice between a serviced apartment as well as staying in a hotel. Maybe Staybridge suites offers the customer something a little bit different.
If you are planning to visit Liverpool and would like to book your stay at Staybridge Suites please call Serviced City Pads on 0844 335 8866. We will be delighted to organise your accommodation requirements.

LFC to announce record sponsorship deal

Monday, September 14th, 2009

Liverpool Football Club, the Barclays Premier League Club, is this week set to announce one of the largest sponsorship deals in British sporting history. The 4 year deal with London based financial institution Standard Chartered is supposedly worth up to £80 million – at £20 million a year this deal dwarfs the current sponsorship deal that Liverpool FC have with Danish brewing giant Carlsberg (which come in at around £7 million per year). Liverpool FC’s relationship with Carlsberg in one of the longest standing deals in Bristish sport, spanning seventeen years. However, Carlsberg apparently weren’t prepared to match the valuation of the contract put forward by Liverpool FC and subsequently agreed by Standard Chartered bank.

Chris Rose, a director at Liverpool based Independent apartment booking company, Serviced City Pads commented, “It has long been recognised in the sporting world that Liverpool FC have punched well below their weight when it came to commerical contracts, especially with the obvious comparisons just up the road at Manchester United. For a club with such a history and worldwide fanbase as Liverpool, this is the sort of deal that is to be expected of the club. It is particularly timely as Manchester United FC have also just announced a similar deal with American giant AON.”
Both the Liverpool and Manchester economies will benefit from these deals, particularly as corporate guests of both companies are likely to visit Liverpool and Manchester and stay in each city spanning weekends in Liverpool when football matches are taking place. This is good news for a company like Serviced City Pads who have many serviced apartments in Liverpool. The additional visitors to the city will book apartments in Liverpool with Serviced City Pads, as an alternative to staying in a Liverpool hotel.
Serviced City Pads will be delighted to discuss options for accommodation in Liverpool with representatives of Standard Chartered for their trips up to Anfield when they come to watch Liverpool FC. Also, if you happen to be a Liverpool FC supporter you can also call Serviced City Pads on 0844 335 8866. We will be delighted to help with booking your Liverpool apartments. Alternatively, have a look at all of the apartments that we have listed at www.servicedcitypads.com.

Forthcoming music tours visiting Manchester

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

The fourth quarter of the year is always the busiest part of the year for touring bands and 2009 is proving to be no different to previous years. Manchester is one of the music, whether thpitals of the UK and most bands that are tour the country visit Manchester as part of their tour. One of the main reasons for this (apart from the size and musical heritage of the city of Manchester) is the range of live music venues that exist across Manchester. Some of the venues in Manchester are the MEN Arena, Ritz Ballroom, Manchester Arena and The Apollo. All of these venues offer varying experiences in terms of the size, acoustics and architecture. Probably the most obvious difference is the venue capacity which means that an actg like Beyonce can play the MEN arena (18th November), whilst Modest Mouse (who include former Smith Johnny Marr amongst their numbers) play the Ritz (13th December) – a fantastic older venue that is situated around the corner from Manchester Oxford Road train station. Another venue that is only used occasionally is Manchester Central (formerly G-Mex). This fantastic venue is now used more for conferences in Manchester, although it became famous in the early 1990’s when bands such as James and Happy Mondays played there at the hight of the Madchester boom. Local band Doves play at Manchester Central on 18th December, which proves to be a terrific pre Christmas gig in Manchester. Another local band, former Mercury music winners who have gone from strength to strength in terms of their public recognition over the last 18 months , is Elbow who will play a massive homecoming show at the MEN arena on Friday 18th September. All in all a busy time for the Manchester music scene.

For full Manchester listings we suggest checking out www.allgigs.com.

So the choice of venues and bands are diverse, but where are you going to stay during your Manchester visit? Serviced City Pads works with the majority of serviced apartment operators in Manchester (including Blue Rainbow apartments, The Light apart hotel, City Stop serviced apartments and The Place hotel) and because of this you will be able to book an apartment within a short walk of any of the main live music venues in Manchester. It is not always realised by people that visit Manchester that you can book a serviced apartment for a single nights stay, much the same as if you wanted to book a hotel in Manchester. If you are going to a gig with a group of friends a Manchester apartment can often work out to be better value for money than booking a number of hotel rooms, for an apartment of a similar level of luxury as a hotel.
When you are planning your visit to Manchester consider booking a serviced apartment with Serviced City Pads. You can check out our listings at www.servicedcitypads.com, book an apartment online, or even call the Apartment Reservations Team on 0844 335 8866. A number of our team have strong local knowledge of Manchester and will be able to help you find the right apartment in the right area of Manchester city centre. Give us a call, we will be delighted to help.
