Reasons To Book Serviced Apartments In Manchester For A City Break

Monday, December 21st, 2009

Originally, serviced apartments in Manchester, or elsewhere, were mainly seen as an executive choice. However, today they are being increasingly booked as upmarket “holiday flats”, offering the chance of top quality hotels in Manchester at cheap self-catering prices.

This is good news for Manchester, which has worked hard to prove there is just as much to do there as London or Edinburgh. We at Serviced City Pads are pleased that families are at last beginning to come around to the fact that booking luxury serviced apartments in Manchester is a viable option for a family city break.

The city has several entertaining tours, where guides will regale you with humorous anecdotes as they show you the sights.

Many of the public attractions host tours as well. Football fans rent our luxury serviced apartments in Manchester near Manchester United’s Old Trafford, not just for the fixtures, but also for the behind-the-scenes tours. Die hard footie fans can rent serviced apartments near Manchester United and Manchester City stadiums, and get a real taste of what the game is about.

Television is a popular reason for groups to book luxury serviced apartments in Manchester city centre. From here, they can visit the Coronation Street set, a major tourist attraction, or (switching channels) visit Manchester BBC studios, where a fascinating “hands on” tour lets you become a weather reporter, or create your own radio drama.

We at Serviced City Apartments hope this has shown you there is more to booking serviced apartments in Manchester than boring business meetings.

Follow Serviced City Pads on Facebook

Friday, December 18th, 2009

Serviced City Pads is delighted to announce that you can now follow the serviced apartment booking company on Facebook.

Chris Rose, Director at Serviced City Pads said, “It is clear that social networking is becoming an increasingly important strand of business, particularly the way in which we interract with our customers as a business. We have recently added a Twitter button and are building up a following. Facebook offers a very different alternative to Twitter in that we can dispense much more information about the serviced apartments that can be booked through Serviced City Pads across the UK.

We hope to build a loyal following both from guests that have already booked with us and those that visit our site and are curious as to what our product offering is and they can then share the information with friends in a manner that they are now very comfortable with.”

Serviced City Pads are based in Liverpool but are also very strong in other areas of the UK (including London, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Bristol). We deal with the majority of apartment operators in Manchester. Our Manchester Serviced Apartments (of which there are c.400 apartments in Manchester City Centre as well as Salford Quays) offer a wide range of accommodation that suits a number of different types of guest.

It is probably fair to say that Facebook has a relatively young following, and this may lead to groups booking their Serviced Apartments in Manchester with Serviced City Pads. Apartments are a great alternative to staying in hotels for large groups visiting Manchester (and other UK cities) as larger apartments can accommodate more people than astandard hotel room. This invariably means that the serviced apartment becomes a cheaper alternative to a hotel.

Much of our feedback from groups (particularly groups of girls) is that they love the fact that they can all get ready together in the apartment, and this is something that they wouldn’t be able to do in a hotel in Manchester. With the Manchester serviced apartments being centrally located it means that bars and restaurants are close by and there will be no extra cost of taking a taxi.

Groups can share the Serviced City Pads Facebook page amongst themselves before they decide which apartment they would like to book. It is a fantastic platform for companies like ours to speak to potential guests as well as keeping in touch with existing clients.

If you are interested in learning more about what serviced apartments offer that is different to a hotel please call 0844 335 8866.

You can find us on Facebook by clicking on our Facebook button on the homepage of www.servicedcitypads.com.

Be Inspired In Edinburgh

Friday, December 18th, 2009

When you rent one of our luxury serviced apartments in Edinburgh, you no doubt will want to head straight up to the Castle. A sturdy walk to the top of the Royal Mile, and you are at one of the icons of Scottish history.

Take a look over the ramparts and be inspired. The view of Edinburgh is one of the world’s great cityscapes. Then take a look at the Scottish Crown Jewels. The Stone of Destiny is a 9th Century block of masonry where the Scottish kings once sat to be crowned. There is so much to see when considering hotels in Edinburgh, location is crucial.

If you rent luxury serviced apartments in Edinburgh for a summer break, be sure not to miss the Military Tattoo. A thrilling spectacle that takes place over three weeks in August, the new visitor centre in Castle Esplanade tells you all about it. Another essential is a visit to the Scotch Whisky Experience, where you can sample a dram or three. If your stomach is rumbling, a meal in the Amber Scottish Restaurant, in the basement, will soon fill the gap. Just one of many superb restaurants in the city, it is also a reason why serviced apartments in Edinburgh don’t see too much use of their self-catering facilities!

A wander along Royal Mile will soon show you why. As well as the famous Mediaeval closes (including the haunted subterranean Mary King’s Close) museums and shops to explore, there are innumerable Scottish restaurants to tantalise your taste-buds.

We at Serviced City Pads recommend Edinburgh as one of the most inspiring cities on our books. Visit our site today to see some of the accommodation in Edinburgh we offer.

Renting Luxury Serviced Apartments In Liverpool’s Heritage Area

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

Liverpool’s heritage has not always been worthy of praise. The city was once the centre of Britain’s slave trade, and what is now the fashionable Rope Walks area can be viewed with modern eyes through heritage walks, reflecting solemnly on the city’s past.

The area became synonymous with inner city decay. However, in the 1990s an ambitious regeneration project took place. Today, there are almost 100 listed buildings, among them Georgian town houses and old warehouses renovated into luxury serviced apartments in Liverpool. In Liverpool, heritage has been embraced rather than destroyed, and renting serviced apartments in Liverpool by the city centre places you right at the heart of it.

History students and culture vultures alike rent serviced apartments in Liverpool by the Ropes Walk quarter (named after the ropes that were once woven here, rather than the slaves being ferried off the ships) and “walk the walk” of British slaving history.

The walk starts at Pier Head, which was originally the site of the 18th Century George’s Dock. Here, great sailing ships would have berthed three deep before setting off for Africa, America and the West Indies. It continues past St Nicholas church – where slave manacles were once auctioned – to the Exchange Flags piazza, which is bordered by Grade II listed buildings on one side, and Liverpool’s historic Town Hall on the other.

The walk takes you past numerous smart Georgian homes, many now serving as luxury serviced apartments in Liverpool.

We at Serviced City Pads have numerous luxury serviced apartments in Liverpool, allowing you to study this fascinating area for yourself.

Host cities named for 2018 World Cup Bid

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

The England World Cup Bid for 2018 today announced it’s 12 host cities who will form the backbone of the final submission which is made to FIFA in May 2010. Serviced City Pads would like to congratulate Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Milton Keynes, Newcastle, Nottingham, Plymouth, Sheffield and Sunderland.

Chris Rose, Director at Serviced City Pads commented, “It is great news for the twelve cities involved in the World Cup bid and should England win this bid, we envisage Billions of Pounds worth of extra revenue flowing into the UK economy. We congratulate the winning city bids. Of course, there were some surprises with the inclusion of Plymouth and Milton Keynes (both deserved). There had been rumours that Liverpool may miss out although that didn’t prove to be the case. With Everton FC not having any plans for a new stadium the city will only have one representative – the New Anfield, and that’s assuming LFC finds the funds to build their new stadium. It is actually a rather sad state of affirs considering that Goodison Park held a World Cup semi-final the last time England hosted (and won) the competition in 1966.

Potentially the strongest bid was put together by Manchester, who boast 2 fantastic stadiums in Old Trafford and the City Of Manchester Stadium. With a Capacity of more than 75,000 people, Old Trafford looks like a certainty to hold one of the Tournaments semi finals along with the new Wembley (in London) which will stage the World Cup Final. The City of Manchester Stadium – an improved relic of the 2002 Commonwealth games that were staged in Manchester, is also now an impressive ground holding just short of 50,000 people. For those people who book an apartment in Manchester with Serviced City Pads during the World Cup will find Manchester to be a buoyant city that is a terrific place to visit. You will be able to use your Hotel Manchester as a base and from here you are very close to travelling to Liverpool, Leeds and other host cities where matches will be played. The travel network from Manchester is excellent – both Road and Rail, and you will be within 2 hours of reaching the majority of other cities.”

Serviced City Pads will be operating in all of the host cities – booking both serviced apartments and hotels in each host city. We are already strong in Manchester and book many serviced apartments Manchester for both corporate and leisure customers who stay in Manchester. We hope to make many bookings for visitors to Manchester who would like to book a Manchester serviced apartment. A winning World Cup bid will ensure a fantastic summer in 2018 for the host cities with visitor numbers swelling.

Serviced City Pads, the professional serviced apartment booking company, will be delighted to help with all of your accommodation requirements in Manchester as well as other cities that you are visiting across the UK. Visit us at www.servicedcitypads.com or give us a call on 0844 335 8866. The reservations team will be delighted to help book your accommodation.

The final decision on which country is to stage the 2018 World Cup bid is made in December 2010 and England is favourite to win that decision. Everybody at Serviced City Pads are crossing their fingers and hoping for an England win!

Stay In London – John Nash Regency Premium Architect of England

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

Prior to your stay in London, visit Serviced City Pads website who have a full range of London serviced apartments. Please contact the reservations team on 0844 335 8866. You can stay in comfort in a London Serviced Apartment and visit John Nash’s designed buildings whose major project was Buckingham Palace.

John Nash was the premier architect of Regency England ( 1752 – 1835 ) was the son of a millwright, but he cast aside his father’s profession and apprenticeship, however, and In a typical act of impatience he set up his own practice.

Nash’s first major venture was a speculative effort building London houses of brick which were faced with stucco painted to emulate stone. The venture fell flat, and Nash retired to the country. There he began to build a successful practice, patnering with landscape architect Humphry Renton on several projects – Nash built the houses, Repton the grounds.

In 1802 the two split up and Nash returned to London. There Nash’s natural ebullience found its scope tackling visionary schemes for his sponsor the Prince Regent.

In 1811 the Prince Regent asked three architects, including Nash, for ideas on developing the farmland called Marleybone Park and the surronding areas. Nash’s ambitious plans included a “garden city”, with villas, terraced houses, crescents, a canal, and lakes.

The Prime focus of the development was a proposed avenue from the Prince Regents Park to “Prinnies” home at Carlton House in the Mall. The area covered by Nash’s scheme covered the present Regents Park, Trafalgar Square, St James Park, and Regent Street.

The enthusiatic Prince Regent threw his support ( and more importantly, his money ), behind Nash’s scheme, and for the next 23 years until his death, Nash laoboured to create a vision. Several elements of Nash’s sweeping scheme had to be abandonned, including the summer palace in Regents Park, and the present days Regents Street has been much altered. As the work in London continued, Nash took on other projects for the Prince Regent, including the remodelling of Brighton Pavillion.

There was already a villa at Brighton, designed by Henry Holland, and the Prince Regent asked Nash to make it into a Palace. This Nash did, beggining in the Indian fashion then popular, and as work progressed, incorporating further Eastern design elements. The result has been called “Indian Gothic” with the flavour of Chinese.

There are many Thomas Nash buildings to visit when you stay in a London Serviced Apartment through Serviced City Pads, contact the reservations team on 0844 335 8866.Nash remodelled Carlton House as Carlton House Terrace and built Cumberland Terrace, he also created what is now Trafalgar Square. The buuildings that surround the latter were all added by later architects however.

Nash’s other major building project in London, Buckingham Palace, did not fare so well, however. When Nash began work on the Palace in 1825 it was still Buckingham House, The Prince Regent had decided that Calton House was ‘”antiquated, rundown, and decrepit”, and decided to create a buckingham Palace on the site of the Duke of Buckinghams former Villa.

Nash was dillatory in his work however ( and erected and pulled downseveral wings of the building according to his moods ), thst the Prince Regent died before work was finished. Nash was finally dismissed from the project, and all that remains of his work is th west wing.

London on a Shoestring – Student/Travellers guide to an alternative London

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

Are you a student returning to university/college in London this year or coming to London for the first time you may have heard all the nightmare scenarios of paying a weeks wages for a pint and packet of crisps. This may be true in some touristy places but that’s just because you don’t know where to go yet for a bargain.

No longer do you have to survive on beans on toast and cheap plonk to get you by @ Serviced City Pads we offer an alternative guide to some of the hidden gems that London has to offer. Not to mention how you can save on accommodation if you are only visiting the Capital for a few days.

If you are just passing through London you may be a little set back by some of the prices of hotels and feel that all your budget may be spent on accommodation. Well look no further than a serviced apartment in London as this can prove to reduce your costs as they are generally larger than hotel rooms and can be shared so ideal if you are in a group. They even offer discounts for long stays.

Eating on the cheap couldn’t be easier with eateries from every corner of the globe scattered across the city offering cheap snacks, lunches and dinners. If you like your asian cuisine then look no further than the ironically named Tokyo Diner found right in the heart of China Town. Here you can enjoy some authentic Japanese food at very reasonable prices. They even offer free refills of your rice bowls for those of you with a large appetite.

Hummous Bro’s in the city offer an alternative to the dreaded cold Tesco sandwich for lunch. They have places in Soho and Holborn and offer healthy and tasty Hummous based dishes with numerous delicious toppings for about £3.

Another great way to save money in London is to take out the middle man completely and do the cooking for yourself. With a Serviced Apartment in London you get a fully fitted kitchen with all modern appliances, cutlery, glass ware and many even have their own dishwashers.  In order to find the best ingredients for your meal Serviced City Pads recommend that you look to some of the fresh markets around London these offer fresher and better priced produce.

Again another better way to save money is to throw your own Come Dine With Me style dinner party in a serviced apartment. You can have a few friends round have dinner and a few drinks before heading out into town to sniff out all the best offers around.

If you’re looking for cheap drinks and nights out in London then look no further as most pubs around London offer customers happy hour for a few hours usually from 5pm on wards. You can find 2 for 1 cocktails and half priced drinks in many bars during the week. Please be advised that prices tend to be quite high during the weekends and even offers are hard to sniff out.

As mentioned before a good start on your budget mission is to get yourself a Serviced Apartment London and the best way to do this is to make an enquiry through Serviced City Pads where their dedicated reservations team can help to find you the best accommodation in London at the best possible prices.

Serviced Apartments In Liverpool’s Rope Walk District

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

At Serviced City Pads, we make sure our serviced apartments in Liverpool are by the most centrally located and attractive areas. The Rope Walk district is one such case in point, right in the city centre. A major regeneration project has made it one of the most prestigious addresses to live.

Unlike many other declining inner cities, Liverpool hasn’t bulldozed away hundreds of years of industrial history; it has embraced it. Liverpool docks was the first commercial dock area in the world and this heritage has been retained, with Rope Walks at the very centre of the regeneration plan.

When the Port of Liverpool was home to sailing vessels, long thin strips of land were utilised for the manufacture of rope – these were known as “rope walks”. In the late 18th/ early 19th Century, some of these became fashionable residential areas while others developed an industrial focus. You can explore the rope walks by booking some of our accommodation in Liverpool.

The residents were merchants – and not just of goods and cotton. Liverpool was the centre of Britain’s slave trade, and this less savoury aspect of the city’s past can be traced via a fascinating heritage walk. It’s worth remembering that some of the luxury serviced apartments in Liverpool by the Georgian town houses were once owned by the city’s slave traders.

In the 20th Century the Rope Walks’ warehouses became neglected and unused – the fine mansions and run-down tenements. However, the 1990’s saw the birth of the Rope Walks Project. 96 of the houses have become listed buildings, and the warehouses have been transformed into the chic restaurants, shops and serviced apartments in Liverpool by the city centre. Visit our website to see some of the accommodation in Liverpool that we offer.
