Give Hotels Near Edinburgh Airport A Miss

Friday, February 26th, 2010

The Scottish capital is a delightful destination for a city break, and a great place in which to do business. If you need somewhere to stay while you’re here, there are plenty of hotels near Edinburgh airport and across the city.

The problem with hotels near Edinburgh airport, or indeed anywhere else, is that they confine you to staying in a single room, and you’re either limited to their dining times or face expensive restaurant bills.

Serviced apartments offer a real alternative to hotels near Edinburgh airport, and are actually cheaper, both because the accommodation costs less, especially over time, and because you can save money by making your own meals.

Not only that but you get a whole self-contained apartment to enjoy, rather than a single room. You won’t have to worry about cleaning, and you’ll find your bed already made up with clean sheets. Serviced apartments are kitted out with everything you need for your stay – from washing machines to DVD players and an Internet connection.

At Serviced City Pads, we have more than 100 fully furnished apartments in Edinburgh and nearby, and we’d be delighted to help you find one that’s perfect for you, whether you’re in town on business or taking a break in the area.

For larger groups, for example, the four-bedroomed Playhouse Apartments provide four star luxury in the heart of the city. Sleeping up to eight people, these excellent value properties cost under £200 a night for a weeknight stay. If you’re after somewhere smaller, choose our one-bedroomed apartment in Rodney Place from just £110 a night.

Visit our web site today and view our full selection of Edinburgh accommodation, all of it completed to an exceedingly high standard.

Get in touch today to discuss your needs further.

Shopping – The Eternal Triangle

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

When people rent luxury serviced apartments in Manchester, they sometimes head for the Arndale Centre, the home of Europe’s first (and largest) Next store.

For a change, why not take an amble around The Triangle? Whereas the Arndale is a 20th century complex dating from the 1970s, the Triangle is a grade II listed building that was originally used as a corn exchange. Following an IRA bomb attack in 1996 it was developed into a modern shopping complex – although the impressive façade remains.

The Triangle has a fascinating history. The current building, originally called ‘The Corn and Produce Exchange’ dates from 1897 and stands on the site of an earlier building which was built in 1837 and traded from Hanging Ditch. If that name sends a shiver down your spine, a number of city ghost tours start here, and there are plenty of serviced apartments in Manchester nearby.

The Corn Exchange fell into disuse during the Depression. However, in the 1970s it was used by the Royal Exchange Theatre Company, as well as becoming a filming location for Granada TV’s ‘Brideshead Revisited.’ The site then became a kind of Mancunian Covent Garden, with a number of traders setting up “alternative” retail outlets. As well as a large market there were permanent stores, cafes and wine bars.

Most of these businesses were forced to move as the site was redeveloped. No fear. They found alternative premises in Manchester’s Bohemian Northern Quarter, where they trade today.

Whether its high street fashions or an Indian head massage you want, we at Serviced City Pads have luxury serviced apartments in Manchester that provide you with the opportunity for as much retail therapy as you can afford. There is practically unlimited accommodation in Manchester available.

Staying In Manchester In The Exchange Square Area

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

If you’re looking for luxury serviced apartments in Manchester, Exchange Square is just one of the areas we offer. One of a number of districts that were heavily redeveloped following the IRA bomb of 1996, it is today a major shopping area and the home of Europe’s first urban entertainment centre.

However, accommodation in Manchester’s city centre doesn’t mean endless towers of glass and concrete. Mancunians love their city with a passion – and so do the town’s planning committee. Whereas some cities would have knocked down two historic pubs to make way for a new Marks and Spencer, Manchester politely moved them. Nearby you will find the Printworks. This historic building that once housed the largest printing room in Europe, its 350,000 square feet now incorporate a 20 screen multiplex, an I-MAX cinema, a leisure club, swimming pool and more than 50 clubs, restaurants and bars.

If you’ve rented one of our Manchester serviced apartments at Serviced City Pads for a bit of retail therapy, Exchange Square is one enormous mall and includes the large Arndale centre.

The Triangle shopping centre almost matches the Arndale in terms of store variety. As well as chain stores like Selfridges and Marks and Spencer, there are some chic cafes and bars. Outside is a BBC Big Screen TV, with covered all-weather seating. As the city is the home of premier league teams Manchester United and Manchester City, perhaps this isn’t surprising.

Many people who rent serviced apartments in Manchester do so for work and pleasure. Exchange Square is the perfect location for both.

Talk To Us Before Booking a Newcastle Airport Hotel

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Newcastle is known its strong regional identity, and is a very fun and friendly place to visit, whether you’re in the ‘Toon’ on business or to play.

While you might think a Newcastle airport hotel would be the answer to your accommodation needs for your trip, it’s well worth considering the alternatives. These include serviced apartments – fully furnished, self-contained properties which allow you to self-cater, while having hotel-style comforts like maid service and fresh sheets and towels. You’ll have everything you need in your apartment.

At Serviced City Pads, we have dozens of these kinds of serviced apartments across the city, at prices which compare very favourably with any Newcastle airport hotel. Your beautifully finished and fully equipped home from home will either provide a comfortable business base or the perfect place from which to explore the city or wider region at leisure.

Enjoy riverside luxury on Baltic Quay in regenerated Gateshead, staying in style in a studio or an apartment which can sleep up to four people, and enjoy fantastic views across the city. With studios starting at just £85 a night, you can see why people choose us rather than booking into, say, a Newcastle airport hotel.

We’re particularly geared up to dealing with corporate clients, so talk to us whether you’re in town for one night or several months, whether you’re relocating, doing some training in the area or working on a contract locally.

It’s so easy to view all our Newcastle apartments online. Talk to us about what you need, and we’ll find you somewhere near wherever you need to be in the city, or browse our accommodation and make a booking through our web site.

You may never need to stay in a hotel in Newcastle again!

The Printworks In Manchester

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

If you book luxury serviced apartments in Manchester thinking you’ll be staying in a grimy post-industrial sprawl, you’re in for a bit of surprise. After the devastating IRA bomb attack of 1996, a regeneration project was implemented that achieved quite remarkable results.

However, this is no soulless sprawl. Mancunians are proud of their industrial heritage, and old buildings have been lovingly restored and put to reuse. The Printworks is a case in point. One of Manchester’s best-loved landmarks, it is also one of the most innovative urban entertainment centres in Europe.

We at Serviced City Pads have over 80 serviced apartments in Manchester, and all are within easy reach of Withy Grove, home of the Printworks. It was originally the home of the Withy Grove Press, and in 1980 it became the site of Sir Robert Maxwell’s newspaper empire. Following his death in 1987, the site became derelict, but following the IRA attack (when it was partially demolished) work began to turn it into the major entertainments venue it is today.

Behind the Grade ll listed façade, once was the largest press works in Europe. Today, those 350,000 square feet are occupied by a massive leisure complex that cost almost £150 million to build. The only I-MAX screen in the North West is joined by a 20 screen multiplex, 15 bars, numerous restaurants, clubs, shops and a health club with a swimming pool.

Whatever your reason for booking accommodation in Manchester, you’re going to need some leisure time.

Serviced Pads Centred Round The Barbican

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

If you rent London serviced apartments in the Barbican district, you may see the odd crumbling wall. Don’t worry, it’s Roman. It says a lot about Italian builders that the Roman wall was one of the few things left unscathed when the Germans bombed the rest of the city during the Blitz.

The Barbican was totally rebuilt in the 1950s, and today it is dominated by its arts centre – the largest in Europe. Within this confusing labyrinth of walkways you will find two theatres, three cinemas, one concert hall, two galleries, a library, a museum and various societies and drama groups. These include the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the Royal Shakespeare Company and the London Symphony Orchestra.

If you’ve booked accommodation in London for business with Serviced City Pads, you’ll probably want to chill out. Wander to the relaxing foyer. Here, there are live jazz recitals 7 days a week. For the price of a coffee and a Danish pastry, you can tap away at your laptop while a world renowned artiste tootles in the background. Book London serviced apartments during the London Jazz Festival, and the Barbican is one long symphony of blues, jazz and swing.

Once you’ve got your bearings, the Barbican is an entrancing masterpiece. Works of modern art and sculpture vie with Roman remains and placid landscaped gardens. Fountains and grassy paths share floor space with renowned tourist attractions like the London Museum. When you book serviced apartments in London, you’ll realise the Barbican is a place that will never want to let you go.

Lose Yourself In The History Of The Barbican District

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

Say “The Barbican” and many people instantly think of the Barbican Centre, the sprawling modern arts complex notorious for trapping lost tourists. However, those who live and work here know it as an ancient and fascinating part of the City, which has a history dating back at least as far as the Roman Wall (the Barbican Centre itself is just outside its remaining boundaries.)

If you book accommodation in London’s Barbican area, a visit to the Museum of London is a must. Free admission takes you through a series of galleries that chart London’s history from pre-Roman times to the present day. Along the way you will see how the City of London looked in the thirteenth century. The Barbican got its name from the mediaeval watchtower that stood there.

People booking luxury serviced apartments in London for business may find it interesting to take a guided City tour. The perimeters marked out by the twelfth century jurisdictional City Bars exist today and retain their juridical importance.

Book London serviced apartments in the shadow of the Roman Wall, and you’ve not only got the largest arts complex in Europe on your doorstep – you’ve got an enthralling, complex history lesson too.

We at Serviced City Pads have almost 900 luxury serviced apartments in London, ranging from chic, intimate one bed suites, to group apartments large enough to hold a business meeting in. What you choose will largely depend on whether you’re in London for business or pleasure. Of course, it is sometimes possible to combine them.
