Need a serviced apartment in Glasgow for Wilco’s visit this October?

Thursday, July 21st, 2011

Will you be staying in a serviced apartment in Glasgow this October? Serviced City Pads have serviced apartments available in Glasgow that could be a great choice for your stay.

The Serviced City Pads blog likes to draw attention to exciting live music, and today’s blog will be looking at a show by the alternative rock band Wilco. From Chicago, Illinois, the band are led by the incredibly talented songwriter Jeff Tweedy (Wilco was formed by Tweedy after the break-up of Uncle Tupelo). The band have developed and redefined their sound with each successive album; the biggest commercial breakthroughs were 2002’s “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot” and 2004’s “A Ghost is Born”. The release of “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot,” the album that really pushed Wilco to new heights, almost did not happen. The album was finished in 2001, but the band’s label at the time, Reprise Records, were reluctant to release it, feeling that it needed changing. Tweedy and Wilco stuck to their guns, and after months of frustration managed to get the album released by Nonesuch Records. This chapter of their career was the making of the band, and struck a blow for all musicians who have ever been hampered by the machinations of the music business. The story of “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot” has a happy ending, and is chronicled in the excellent documentary “I Am Trying to Break Your Heart,” which had behind the scenes access to all the drama. Since that turbulent phase in their career, Wilco has steadily grown to become one of the most influential and respected groups in music today. The concert that will take place at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall will be a chance for Wilco fans to see a band on top of their game – it is no accident that the band has a reputation as excellent live performers.

If you are going to be seeing Wilco in Glasgow on Monday 24th October 2011, then you are probably thinking about accommodation for your stay. If this is the case, why not look at a serviced apartment? Serviced apartments are a popular alternative to hotels – they can offer much more comfort and space, and there are options for couples or lone travellers as well as families or groups. Serviced apartments usually have bedrooms, bathrooms, a kitchen and a living room / dining area which is a great space to relax in.

If you are interested in serviced apartments, then why not contact us here at Serviced City Pads and see what would be available for you? You can call us on 0844-335-8866 to speak to our reservations team, or you can submit an enquiry through our website.

Going to see Katy Perry in Glasgow? Why not stay in a serviced apartment?

Wednesday, July 20th, 2011

The Serviced City Pads blog has been taking a look at some of the artists who are going to be performing in Glasgow this year. One of the most high profile is American pop sensation Katy Perry.

Katy Perry is touring the UK this year in support of her 2010 smash album “Teenage Dream,” and she will be playing the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) in Glasgow on 1st, 3rd, and 4th November 2011. This will be a great chance for her adoring fans to see her live, performing some of her greatest hits. Indeed, it is incredible how many hits Katy Perry has had from her two major successes, 2008’s “One of the Boys” and 2010’s “Teenage Dream.” If you are lucky enough to have a ticket to see the Glasgow shows, you will be reminded just how many of her songs have stormed the charts, from “I Kissed a Girl” and “Hot and Cold” to “Teenage Dream” and “Firework.” The stage show should be a spectacle to behold, as Perry has already gained a reputation as a great live performer. As demonstrated by her “California Gurls” video, Katy Perry is fond of big, bright and bold clothes and sets, so her live show should be particularly memorable.

If you are going to Glasgow to see Katy Perry perform, you are probably thinking about accommodation. If this is the case, why not contact us here at Serviced City Pads? On our website, we have a wide range of serviced apartments that are available in Glasgow through our apartment operators. There is everything from 1 bedroom apartments, ideal for single travellers or couples, all the way up to 3 bedroom apartments ideal for families and groups. You can see the options for yourself by visiting the Glasgow city page on our website.

Serviced apartments are very popular at the moment as an alternative to the traditional hotel option. The typical serviced apartment has a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen area, and a living room / dining area. Guests are provided with much more space and comfort than in the traditional hotel room, and at a competitive rate.

If you want to look at serviced apartments for your visit to Glasgow, contact us at Serviced City Pads. You can call us on 0844-335-8866 to speak to our reservations team, or you can submit an enquiry through our website.

Glasgow Goes “Psycho” with the Scottish Symphony Orchestra!

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

As those of you who have followed the Serviced City Pads blog might have realised by now, there are one or two horror fans in our office. Always keen to shine a light on exciting horror and film related events, today’s Serviced City Pads blog takes a look at a weekend with the Scottish Symphony Orchestra that will be taking place in September 2011.

The Scottish Symphony Orchestra will be performing at City Halls in Glasgow on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th September. The two shows will celebrate the work of legendary film composer Bernard Herrmann, famous for his scores for Alfred Hitchcock masterpieces such as “Vertigo,” “North by Northwest,” and perhaps most of all for “Psycho”. His scores were innovative and powerful and it is hard to imagine the films without them. These two performances will offer the chance for people to hear some of these iconic scores live, performed by the Scottish Symphony Orchestra.

The first night will see a screening of the classic horror film “Psycho” but with the score being performed live by the SSO. It is sure to be an incredible experience for those lucky enough to have a ticket.

The second night will be just as exciting. Under the wonderful title “Music to be Murdered by,” the SSO will be performing a wide selection of Herrmann’s film scores.

These two nights will be a treat for any horror fans, and also for anyone who has a love of film soundtracks. The Serviced City Pads blog should probably warn you that if you are of a delicate disposition you may want to think twice before attending this event. These will be two evenings of music that should unnerve you as much as they delight you.

If you will be coming to Glasgow in September, you are probably thinking about accommodation. If this is the case, perhaps you would consider looking at serviced apartments. Serviced apartments have grown in popularity in recent years, and are becoming a common alternative to hotels. Serviced apartments are more spacious and comfortable than your typical hotel room; the typical apartment has a bedroom, a bathroom, and a living / dining area which is perfect for relaxing in. Thursday, June 24th, 2010

Glasgow airport offers travellers an impressive choice of worldwide destinations. Those leaving from Glasgow and those coming into the city for either business or pleasure often require accommodation near Glasgow airport. Accommodation near the airport can be highly practical and pleasant too.

There are number of affordable hotels at Glasgow airport but these hotels get extremely busy and often do not offer a relaxing and luxurious place to stay. Lots of guests staying in a hotel means lots of noise and because these hotels are affordable, hotel rooms are often small and basically decorated.

Hotels Versus Apartments

Tuesday, May 25th, 2010

Many visitors to cities in the United Kingdom presume that the only option for them as accommodation is a hotel. In large cities such as Glasgow where you have many visitors on a daily basis you can expect a large number of hotels, especially hotels near Glasgow airport. The hotels available are mainly low priced to remain popular with travellers to the area. However, the hotels are largely chain hotels which are all set out in an almost identical manner with the rooms on offer being small and offering no privacy or space.

Alternatively, serviced apartments in Glasgow can be spacious as well as individually furnished with all the facilities of home available to you. The cost works out cheaper than a hotel especially when there are several in your party. Whilst visiting Glasgow, whether on business or for pleasure it is always nice to return to your accommodation after a tiring day and be able to relax and unwind. In hotels near Glasgow airport you will find that they are almost always busy and finding that moments peace and quiet to unwind can be difficult.

Locating serviced apartments in a city such as Glasgow can be difficult, but companies such as here at Serviced City Pads specialise in supplying apartments that are furnished to a high standard and are available for varying periods of time. The cost of one of our apartments can work out to be considerably lower than a hotel, especially for multiple visitors staying for more than one night.

Why You Should Only Accept the Best from Glasgow Airport Hotels

Monday, March 29th, 2010

Quality is a vital consideration when it comes to a lot of things in life, but it’s even more so when you’re looking for Glasgow airport hotels. You should only ever accept the best, and here are just a few reasons why.

It’s only the best hotels that will be able to give you the quality, service and luxury that you’re after, and anything less than that just isn’t worth your time. You’ll be able to get the added extras that you couldn’t get elsewhere, such as a turndown service and even chocolates on your pillow, and it’s this attention to detail that makes all the difference.

If you accept anything less than the best then you’re sure to be disappointed. You’ll be left with poor quality furnishings, less space than you were hoping for and service that simply isn’t up to standards. Whilst quality can often mean paying more, it’s worth it if you want to be completely happy with your experience.

Of course, that doesn’t always mean that you have to pay extortionate rates to get what you’re looking for. As long as you do your research you’ll be able to get great rates, and remember that as well as Glasgow airport hotels you could always try serviced apartments in Glasgow for something more spacious, and still just as luxurious.

As you can see, you should only accept the best from Glasgow airport hotels. Anything less that perfection simply isn’t an option, so be prepared to do your research if you want to find the best hotels possible. Or, if you’re after serviced apartments in Glasgow, ensure that you see what we’ve got here at Serviced City Pads as a luxurious alternative.
