Watching Sarah Millican? Book a London Serviced Apartment!

Thursday, November 3rd, 2011

For any comedy fans in London it would be silly not to look at booking a serviced apartment if you are down for any shows. There is a large variety of London serviced apartments to choose from across the capital so whether you are going to see comedians you can get some London accommodation nearby.

If you’re looking for a comedy gig in London on 11th November, then by all means get don your laughing hat and get yourself down to the HMV Apollo for a rib-tickling saga with the North-East’s finest Sarah Millican. With her distinctive Geordie accent and female features, you will know who I mean if you Youtube her. Unless you’re up on your British comedians then you’ll know anyway, I won’t patronise you. Millican first rose to fame in 2008 when she won the if.comedy award for best newcomer at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the breeding ground of British comedians, metaphorically and possibly literally. In 2010 again at the Fringe Festival, she lost out to Russell Kane in the main comedy award which may or may not have been surrounded by controversy.

She’s had a lot of success on the radio too. She seems to suit radio quite well. Her radio series ‘Sarah Millican’s Support Group.’ What happens is studio audience members are encouraged to share problems with Millican’s agony aunt character for her to offer tips and advice. Some of the problems are pre-meditated and scripted, the callers are actually actors, whereas some come from real people in the audience allowing Sarah to improvise.  A second series was commissioned and started in May 2011.

If you need London accommodation while you are heading to the HMV Apollo to see South Shield’s finest in action (that would be Sarah Millican) then why not try serviced apartments as your choice of accommodation in London? By getting a serviced apartment you would leave all of your fellow comedy goers behind and you will be laughing all the way into your open plan living/kitchen area and bedroom. Rather than the 4 walls of a hotel room you get the use of a whole London apartment.

The HMV Apollo, or the Hammersmith Apollo if you’re old school and/or despise corporate sponsorship (e.g Ashburton Grove or Emirates Stadium? Eastlands or Etihad Stadium?) is based in Hammersmith in West London and is easily accessible by bus or tube. The ease of which you can get there means there any London serviced apartments in the centre are just a short commute away so there’s even more reason to book a serviced apartment when looking for your London accommodation.

Booking London accommodation for Winter in the capital.

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011

If you’re travelling to London this winter to see whatever, then when looking for your London accommodation then why not try a serviced apartment? London is a really happening place so there are always things going on, so get down there and see those things.

Winter is a cold time of the year caused by the tilt of the Earth. The further away you get from the Equator the more noticeable the difference is between the seasons. This is because the Earth’s axis does not rotate perfectly perpendicular to the sun so for most of the year the top or bottom half is tilted closer or further away to the sun so drastically changes the climate. At its extreme at the poles, during the peak of Winter they do not get any daylight or sunlight, depending on which pole you are at.

As London is in the Northern Hemisphere, the coming Winter means that the nights are darker and the weather is much cooler so you’d be advised to wrap up warm. On the other hand places in the Southern Hemisphere such as Australia and South Africa, will have their Winter during June/July/August so that’s why on Neighbours you might have got confused when it’s really hot over Christmas. Even though Neighbours is actually a soap and not a documentary (and just so we’re being completely clear, by ‘a soap’ we mean a soap opera in the television meaning of the word, not soap as in baths and Fight Club) the show still accurately portrays the seasons as actually experienced in Australia.

If you are going to be in the capital this year searching for London apartment accommodation, then you will want to wrap up warm. This should definitely involve a coat, most probably a combination of hat/scarf/gloves or maybe all three if it’s really chilly. Also whilst searching for London serviced apartments, Flip-flops are definitely off the cards, as well as similarly airy footwear options such as sandals and those pathetic little plastic jelly things that 4 year old girls wear “jelly shoes.”

For those looking for London serviced apartments this Winter why not try giving Serviced City Pads a ring and see what there is to offer. With plenty of serviced apartment options across London, no matter where you’re looking to stay you can usually always find somewhere to stay near where you need, and if not, the London Tube network is so extensive that you can be several miles away but only several minutes away. London serviced apartments are a great alternative to hotel rooms and you get lots more space than you would in an equivalent hotel.

Get your London Accommodation for the BT Christmas Concert.

Thursday, October 27th, 2011

This Christmas book your London accommodation early to avoid disappointment and make sure you have a serviced apartment to relax in when you’re enjoying Christmas in the capital. The BT Christmas Concert at the Royal Albert Hall has been running for at least 1 year as far as I can tell, so they’re going to know what they’re doing so you probably won’t be disappointed. Like before when you weren’t disappointed about getting the London accommodation.

The BT Christmas Concert at the Royal Albert Hall (don’t worry, Christmas hasn’t changed its name to ‘BT Christmas’ it’s not in the bible as luckily corporate sponsorship didn’t exist in those days. But maybe one day a large company will sponsor Christmas? I don’t think that idea is too farfetched as most things are sponsored now these days, sports teams, stadiums and arenas, television shows, competitions etc. Why not a date? Imagine “Thornton’s Mothers Day” or “The Guiness New Year” or “May Day in association with Natwest.” I think that could well happen soon, but anyway…) will take place on the 14th December in London.

The show itself is hosted by Natasha Kaplinsky described by the Mail as a ‘former autocutie’ who is a newsreader and television presenter. It features a host of classic music orchestras and performers including Matthew Hargreaves (baritone) Malcom Hicks (organ) City of London Choir (singing) The London Oratory School Schola (probably singing) Royal Air Force Squadranaires (singing pilots?) Anthony Inglis (conductor) London Concert Orchestra (an orchestra.) So sounds good to me, and they will all be doing Christmassy songs or ‘festive delights.’ There will also be indoor fireworks apparently, which to me doesn’t sound too great an idea. I imagine Mario Balotelli will have had something to do with this aspect of the concert, but what the organisers are doing getting a professional footballer to help with the organisation of the event, especially one with such as questionable reputation, is beyond me.

If you are travelling down to London to see the concert, then why not book a serviced apartment to satisfy your lusting London accommodation needs? With a serviced apartment you get the use of a whole apartment as opposed to just the 4 walls of a hotel room (however There would be probably be an en-suite though so there would technically be more than 4 walls as most hotels are no more advanced than having a an open plan toilet and bathroom.) When booking your London accommodation why not try Serviced City Pads who have a wide selection of serviced apartments across the city.

Serviced apartment in London for the River Thames.

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

Getting a London serviced apartment is not as easy as you might think, if you are doing all the work yourself anyway. That’s why enlightened individuals will use Serviced City Pads to find the London accommodation, and what more a defining feature of London than the River Thames?

The River Thames is England’s longest river and the second longest in the United Kingdom. For those river enthusiasts out there, you will already know that the Severn is the UK’s longest river, but that flows through Wales so we’re aren’t counting it on this occasion. For non-river enthusiasts, just read the last sentence. On its perilous journey from Thames Head (about a mile north of the village of Kemble) to the Thames estuary it goes through many places such as Newbridge, Swinford, Oxford, Abingdon, Wallingford, Goring, Pangbourne, Reading, Marlow, Maidenhead, Windsor, Staines, Kingston, London, Greenwich before coming out next to Southend. Oh it must see many a sight.

Probably the most famous part of the river is the bit that runs through London. There are lots of good bridges that cross the river, which have proved very useful as people wish to travel from one side to the other. Some good bridges that cross the Thames include Westminster Bridge, Waterloo Bridge, London Bridge, Tower Bridge, Windsor Bridge, Putney Bridge and many more. There also some tunnels including the world’s first underwater tunnel, Marc Brunel’s Thames Tunnel built in 1843.

If you are looking for accommodation in London and you’re thinking of looking at or going on the Thames, then why not try booking a serviced apartment for your stay. Compared to an equivalent London hotel, apartments provide an added bonus due to their self-catering style, so you can cook and eat in the apartment without having to rely on expensive of sub-par hotel or restaurant food. You also get to enjoy more space than an in a hotel as you have use of a whole apartment. With plenty of serviced apartment options across London, Serviced City Pads can provide your London accommodation whilst you stay.

Get a serviced apartment in London for George Michael.

Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

George Michael’s ‘Syphonica’ tour is coming to London soon. By soon, his first date is tonight (25th October 2012) and he will perform for 4 nights before moving elsewhere round the UK and Europe. If you’re in London to see big George and you don’t have anywhere to stay, why no book a serviced apartment and enjoy the London stay in style. There are plenty of London serviced apartment options to choose from so book the London accommodation quick to avoid disappointment and other bad things!

After years of self-imposed performing exile, Mr. Michael returns playing a series of mega show across the UK in his tour ‘Symphonica.’ He claims the tour is to atone for his ‘sins’ and to say sorry to his many fans for his reckless behaviour in the latter days of his career. For those of you of a more cynical nature, it may strike you that the prices for tickets for these shows are set very high considering that this is for the fans. With cheapest tickets from £69.99 and the most expensive at £2,000, you can be assured that George Michael has no other reason to do a comeback tour than for his fans. If you try to book these online by making up card details, then it won’t work unless  you’re really lucky.

For this tour the goateed popstar will bring along with him a throbbing orchestra delivering a fully erect set of re-imaginings of his own spurtingly vast number of hits, plus a few flaccid covers. It’s with great sadness that we found out the GM split with his partner Kenny Goss after 15 years of being together. They had endured some rough times as well as some difficult times in the media with Michaels activities in public toilets. Also Micheal’s activities with different naughty drugs that he wasn’t supposed to be doing with got him into a spot of bother with the feds. On the other hand, he does do a lot of good stuff for charity which you can read about.

If you’re looking for London accommodation in October in London for to be nearer George Michael, then you should absolutely book a serviced apartment. If you’re already paying so much for the tickets, then just spend more, more, more and book a London serviced apartment. The concerts take place at The Royal Albert Hall so there are some good serviced apartment options nearby.

Professor Green playing in London, so get a serviced apartment.

Monday, October 24th, 2011

This December you need to book a serviced apartment in London if you are heading down to see Professor Green perform. With lots of London accommodation options it can be hard to choose where to stay, however serviced apartments are a great choice for individuals or groups going to London.

Professor Green (real name Stephen Paul Manderson) is a British rapper who hails from Hackney in East London.  He has achieved chart success after he was signed to ‘the Beats’ a record label run by Mike Skinner of The Streets game and Ted Mayhem of other fame. His first taste of a popular hit was ‘I need you tonight’ which samples INXS’s ‘Need you Tonight’ so immediately made people like it. It also had a good video. He has collaborated a few times with Lily Allen on both her 2009 concert tour and on the song ‘Just be good to green’ which is based on another song of the similar name by the SOS Band.

Why the name ‘Professor Green’ I hear you exclaiming? Well the ‘professor’ bit because he is apparently clever, I assume this is relative to his musical peers, and the ‘Green’ bit because apparently from one the internet tells us he used to deal marijuana which in some circles is known as ‘green’ due to the green nature of its colour. PG (which are the initials for Professor Green) are also the initials for ‘Popular Guy’, ‘Pretty Great.’ ‘Pound Gatherer,’ and ‘Pop Guru’ all things that I’m sure he would claim to be or aspire to be. Also as a English chap I’m sure he enjoys a cup of tea, and what better brand of tea to drink than PG Tips, i.e. Professor Green Tips. Maybe he is cleverer than you thought?

On December 15th the Green Prof is playing at Electric Brixton which, believe it or not, is in the heart of Brixton so it is sure to be a sell-out gig. There are lots of London accommodation options that you could get, serviced apartments though are a great idea. Compared to an equivalent London hotel, with a serviced apartment you get so much more space whilst keeping the same amount of comfort and service. With a London serviced apartment you’ll be sure to have lots of fun and happy times.

Get a London serviced apartment for Tim Key in London

Friday, October 21st, 2011

From December to January this winter 2011/12 Tim Key brings his new show to London’s West End, specifically Soho Theatre. With plenty of accommodation options in London, you might be struggling to choose where to stay, however there is no need to worry, just book a serviced apartment in London and all your dreams will (may) come true. An increasingly popular option when compared to hotels, serviced apartments are a solid option when looking for London accommodation.

For those of you that haven’t heard of Tim Key, shame on you. He was the winner of the 2009 Edinburgh Comedy Award for his show ‘Slutcracker’ and back this Winter with another slut-themed titled show ‘Masterslut.’ However when searching for Google for more information on these shows, especially the latter, please be sure to include the phrase ‘Tim Key’ or ‘Comedy Show’ as some unwanted results may appear on the screen. Although if you are a very open-minded person then you may be happy to entertain some of the ideas and imagery that you may encounter. Key’s shows are a mixture of off-beat poetry, weird and wonderful film clips with a distinctively whimsical delivery (as some other website bloggers have described it.) You may have seen him as resident poet on Charlie Brooker’s ‘Newsipe’ or as a joint host of BBC4’s ‘We Need Answers’ along with Mark Watson and Alex Horne. Eagled eyed viewers may also recognise him as Sidekick Simon from Alan Partridge’s new work ‘Mid-Morning Matters.’ The bottom line is, Tim Key is a funny bloke. And he is a different sort of funny so as to make him worth seeing, but not too different that it’s too weird and it would make your mates/girlfriend questions your comedic tastes by inviting them along. Also due to the cynical, popularist celebrity culture we live in, Key is not mainstream yet so it would still be cool to see him. So get in there early before he’s a guest panellist Britain’s got Talent and appears on the Jonathon Ross show and you to have to pay £55 to watch him from 200 yards away at the back of a packed stadium whilst the show is performed live for his DVD released just in time for Christmas. Youtube ‘No More Women’ and watch all the episodes and then they play the game with your mates. Tim Key and Mark Watson will be proud of you and what better place to practice your game than in a London serviced apartment.

For any shows in the West End, getting a serviced apartment is a great option to compliment your night at the theatre. Booking a serviced apartment gives you use of a whole apartment compared to a hotel room which means there’s a separate living room and bedrooms as well as your own kitchen area. Serviced City Pads have a wide selection of serviced apartments in London, and with the excellent tube network, no matter where you are in central London you will never be far away from where you need to be. If Tim Key would like to book his own serviced apartment as his London accommodation option, please get in touch and Serviced City Pads will be glad to help.

Serviced Apartment in London for Alan Carr in November.

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

On 5th November 2011 Alan Carr will arrive in London for the last leg of his ‘Spexy Beast’ tour. He will be playing at the O2 Arena, one of the largest venues for comedy in the city. With hundreds, possibly thousands, probably not millions expected to flock to London to witness the event, be sure to book your accommodation early so as not to be disappointed. Getting a serviced apartment in London wouldn’t be a bad an idea as you might think as hotels aren’t that good really. Serviced apartments are good in fact. You can quote me on that.

Alan Carr first rose to prominence along with Justin Lee Collins on the successful TV show Friday Night Project which later became Sunday Night Project. He has seen more fame as the individual host of Alan Carr: Chatty Man. Some have described him as ‘an edgy, actually gay, Micheal McIntyre’ other as ‘the on off the Friday Night Project who wasn’t fat.’ Although his sexuality is often seen as a key USP in his act and persona, Carr doesn’t see it as a focal point of his act, once saying “I just think gay people need to get over themselves. Just because you’re gay and on the telly doesn’t mean you’re a role model. I’m just a comedian. That’s all I am. … What am I meant to do? I don’t talk about being gay and I think what better equality for gays than that?” Truer words have never been spoken. Take a bow son.

Speaking of football clichés, a little known fact is that Alan Carr’s father, Graham Carr, is a former professional footballer and manager. He now works at Newcastle United as a head scout since February 2010 and those nearly 2 years he has forged an excellent reputation as keen spotter of talent. Before he arrived at Newcastle the club had been in turmoil after relegation to the Championship and years of being known for defensive errors and almost pantomime events surrounding the team. Currently the team sit 4th in the Premier League and have a revamped team full of young exciting talent and it seems the days of the ‘Newcastle Circus’ are a thing of the past. Obviously a lot of the is praise should be directed at new manager Alan Pardew, however some of the signings that have arrived at St. James Park have been very good buys heavily influenced by Carr. The club sold their star players Andy Carroll, Kevin Nolan and Joey Barton who seemed to leave an unfillable hole in the team, however the club also got rid of a lot of baggage off the pitch. They have replaced them with a host of young talented French talent, mostly accredited to Graham Carr. Yohan Cabaye, Hatem Ben Arfa, Mehdi Abeid, Sylvain Marveaux and Cheick Tiote have arrived at the club and made a big difference settling in instantly.

When travelling to London to see the Carr, get a serviced apartment for your stay to round off the 5* experience. Serviced apartments are an excellent London accommodation choice for anyone travelling to the city. Booking a serviced apartment in London is probably simpler than you think. Just give Serviced City Pads a call or send an email and of the excellently trained and professional sales team can help you with your enquiry.

Get a London serviced apartment for Rihanna in London.

Wednesday, October 19th, 2011

This Winter book yourself a serviced apartment in London to make sure you’re primed and ready for the arrival of international superstar Rihanna. She’s already played a few dates in October at the O2 Arena and the fans absolutely lapped it up, so no doubt when she’s back again in November and December the crowds will be flocking to see her and London accommodation options may be stretched. If after the show she fancies spending some time with her fans, then you’re a lot more likely to tempt her back if you’re staying in a serviced apartment rather than a cheap hotel or hostel.

Rihanna’s latest world tour the ‘Loud Tour’ has been running since June 4th and has seen the singer travel all over the world including North America, Scandanavia, UK, Brazil, and back to Europe in mid-October. She will be playing at London’s O2 Arena on December 1st and then again for 3 dates 20th, 21st and 22nd. The tour takes in all parts of the Western World where fans have plenty of disposable income to use on seeing their idle. For fans of Rihanna in other areas of the world such as the majority of South & Central America, Far and Middle East and Africa, unfortunately they will have to stick to watching her on the tele or radio. Rihanna was unavailable to comment on whether she would be undertaking a second tour of these places in 2012, although no-one has actually tried to ask her this, she was simply unavailable by the means that I have at my disposal which also includes time restraints.

If you’re travelling down to London to see this once in a lifetime event (if you have a very short lifespan or are unwilling to travel often and do not live in a major urban area in the Western world) then you will no doubt be looking for some London accommodation for your stay. Most people would immediately think of getting a hotel, however more and more enlightened individuals are choosing serviced apartments as their London accommodation option of choice. Serviced City Pads have wide range of London serviced apartments located across the city and with the extensive tube and bus network that the city boasts, you are never far away from where you need to be. The Rihanna concert takes place at the O2 Arena which has good transport links to the rest of London so as long as you book a central serviced apartment you should have no problem getting to the venue. Book a London serviced apartment fool!

Book a serviced apartment in London for the Lord Mayor’s show.

Tuesday, October 18th, 2011

Come November 12th 2011 the Lord Mayor’s show will return to the streets of central London to see in the reign of the latest Mayor of the City of London. The Lord Mayor is not to be confused with the Mayor of London. The Lord Mayor is appointed every year and outlandish public parade that is made of his inauguration reflects the fact that this was once one of the most prominent offices in England. The Mayor of London, which has only existed since 2000, is an entirely different role and represents the Greater London Authority. For anyone heading down to London for the event, why not try a serviced apartment as your choice of London accommodation? Serviced City Pads have a wide selection of serviced apartments to choose from so why not get in touch and see what can be offered.

The event itself has been running for hundreds of years dating back to 1535 and consists of an elaborate street parade as the Mayor travels from the City of London to the Royal Courts of Justice where he or she swears their allegiance to the crown. The show is quite unique in that the procession is actually longer than the route, so the head of the procession will arrive at the destination before the tail has even began. Personally that seems like poor planning and pushing the limits of the duration and entertainment value of the procession. Either make a longer route if you want to make the procession bigger or reduce the amount of people and floats in the procession. 3 miles long and with around 6000 participants, surely some would be happy to stay watching on the tele (BBC One now run a special show that follows the procession so if you can’t be bothered to get down to London yourself then you can watch it in the comfort of your own home. Or you could get a London serviced apartment and watch it from the comfort of the lounge in the apartment.)

It all began in 1213 when King John (same one from Robin Hood? I’m not historian) awarded the City of London the right to choose its own Mayor. The one condition was that the Mayor has to swear his allegiance to the crown every year by travelling up river to Westminster. That way there would be no sneakiness. These days the Mayor no longer travels by boat, or by horse. However don’t get carried away, he also does not rock up in a F40 or DB9, nor does he drive his hybrid car or cycle down London’s many safe and inviting cycle routes. He travels in a big coach thing with lots or pretty designs and colours so as you know he’s important. He is accompanied by military displays, marching bands, acrobats, dancers, displays of wealth and charity and symbols of London’s ancient strength and resolve.

The show always takes place on the 2nd Saturday of November which this year is on the 12th. If you’re heading down to London to view this spectacular spectacle, then you will surely be looking for some London accommodation for your stay. If you’ve never tried them before, then have a go in a serviced apartment whilst you are staying in London. You get the use of a whole apartment for your stay so you’re not trapped in the 4 walls of a London hotel. Also the nature of the accommodation is that they are self-catering apartments so you can eat what you want, when you want instead of being stuck eating in expensive restaurants.
