Relocating For Work

Sunday, June 13th, 2010

With many large companies having branches located all over the country as well as overseas, it is always a possibility that an employee will be asked to relocate to another part of the United Kingdom. Of course this means finding a new home and moving everything and everyone to a new location. Trying to co-ordinate the location of a new home and selling your existing home within a tight deadline is sometimes not possible, so your employer will provide temporary accommodation.

In some larger cities such as Manchester the obvious choice for temporary relocation may be a cheap hotel which may suffice for a very short period of time. For anyone who has to stay in a hotel for longer than a week the lack of space, the constant dining out and cramped conditions can become stressful and may eventually affect your performance at work. You are also facing the prospect of having your sleep disturbed by other guests and the hotel staff. Hotels in Manchester have staff that are constantly working throughout the night and noises echo when the hotel is quieter than usual.

Here at Serviced City Pads we can help you to relocate from hotels in Manchester by staying in one of our luxurious serviced apartments which offer space, convenience and all the home comforts you will require. With an internet connection and flat screen television you will be able to relax in the evening. A serviced apartment allows you to experience the same service as you would find in a five star hotel at a lower price.

Are You Impressed With The Current Selection Of Hotels In Manchester?

When planning a trip to Manchester, you certainly have a wide selection of hotels to choose from. However, a large number of these hotels don’t offer high quality accommodation cheaply. Hotels in Manchester can be disappointing and there are a few reasons why.

Whilst luxurious hotels in Manchester can offer spacious and well-decorated bedrooms, accommodation like this is generally only available at a great cost. If you don’t have a large budget then hotels like this are immediately out of the question. Even when you can afford to choose a hotel like this for your stay, you are still only presented with a bedroom and bathroom and can still feel quite confined. If you leave your room, public areas within the hotel constantly remind you that you are just one guest of many.

If you opt for one of the cheap hotels in Manchester your experience can be even more disappointing. Cheap hotels in Manchester often only offer small and cramped bedrooms and extremely basic furniture, fittings and facilities.

If you are tired of the available hotels in Manchester, try something different. Luxury serviced apartments in Manchester provide a very different type of accommodation and are available at affordable prices.

Staying in Cheap Manchester Airport Hotels

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

Manchester is a large and popular city with much to offer including theatre breaks, shopping centres and a thriving business centre. When visiting Manchester, particularly if you are going to a concert or to see a show it makes sense to stay for one or two nights. Usually, the first choice for many is the abundance of cheap Manchester airport hotels available, but these can sometimes be restrictive – especially if you are travelling as a family.

Hotels normally accommodate an average family of four in either one or two rooms because of space restrictions. Booking two rooms can work out to be a very expensive option, and if you have young children is not a secure option so the parents end up staying in separate rooms with a child each. At Serviced City Pads we have apartments that are fully serviced in Manchester and can accommodate a family comfortably. You will save money by using this option and you can all stay in the same apartment, unlike cheap Manchester airport hotels which can be restrictive.

For anyone travelling on a business trip, cheap Manchester airport hotels can actually work out to be quite expensive as you have to dine out, which can be costly. If you have to entertain business clients it gives a professional air if you are staying in a serviced apartment with all the facilities of home and the office available. You can dine in comfort and style without the extra cost and the noise of a restaurant. Serviced apartments in Manchester offer value and style to anyone travelling to Manchester.

Manchester or Liverpool to become “Whitehall of the North”?

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Following yesterday’s budget, presented by Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling it looks like Manchester and Liverpool will slug it out to become what many commentators are dubbing, “Whitehall of the North”. Darling said that the governmnet were on track for £11 Billion worth of efficiency savings by 2013, and that part of these efficiency savings would be delivered by relocating up to 15,000 civil servants out of London. Possibly, the biggest one off opportunity for the economies of Manchester and Liverpool are the 1,000 civil servants that will be relocated by the Ministry of Justice.

So which of these Northern cities is best placed to take on the additional civil servants?

Manchester must be the favourite and already has plans for Civil Servants campus near to Manchester Picadilly train station which will be able to house up to 5,000 government workers. Manchester is the larger of the 2 cities and is arguably better equipped to deal with the influx of workers. The city will make a big step forward when it delivers Media City in the Salford Quays area.

Although Liverpool can point to the successful move of the Health and Safety Executive to Bootle on Merseyside (on the outskirts of Liverpool) and the city plans to adopt the Pall Mall area (with the financial district) as it’s civel service hub.

Both cities can point to quick rail links to London as well as cheaper housing and local labour markets.

Whichever city is chose for the Ministry of Justice relocation it will prove to be a massive boost to the North West regional economy with added visitors, project workers staying in Manchester hotels who have travelled from London and so on. The initial relocation will likely pave the way for additional civil service jobs that will inevitably follow on.

Chris Rose, Managing Director at Serviced City Pads commented, “Although our company is based in Liverpool, we see ourselves very much as a North West company and as such we will be delighted whichever of the 2 cities is given the go ahead by the governmnent. We have serviced apartment in Manchester and Liverpool and by 2011 expect to be taking bookings for manchester hotels and hotels in Liverpool. Both cities could benefit from this news.”
