There were also some films that don’t fit the traditional horror mould, but were frightening nonetheless, such as the Japanese drama “Cold Fish” by arch provocateur Sion Sono. There were also some strange offerings like the excellent Korean film “The Neighbour Zombie”, which was composed of short films made by Korean film-makers. British film was represented by the absolutely charming and funny “Harold’s Going Stiff” which saw a lonely old man suffering from the onset of zombie like symptoms making a new friend. There was space for comedy at the festival too, with “Dale & Tucker vs. Evil” and “Chop”, which was an absolutely inspired parody of “Hostel” and “Saw”. As well as showcasing new film, the festival also offered the chance to see classic horror on the big screen – last year saw screenings of “Carrie”, Cronenberg’s “Dead Ringers”, and “Killer Klowns from Outer Space”. It’s not all about features though; the festival also showcased short films and animation from all over the world. For anybody who loves horror film, the Dead by Dawn festival will be a delight – you will have the opportunity to see film from all over the world.
