Serviced Apartments London for Halloween and Phobophobia

Thursday, October 6th, 2011

Anyone looking to stay in London should consider booking a London serviced apartment for their stay and also consider hanging around the city for a few days to really take in all the wonderful sights and sounds that London has to offer.

Some of the most glorious sights and sounds that London has to offer can be found around Halloween time and where better to experience the horror, than at Phobophobia. This is an annual event held around Halloween at the London Bridge Experience and London Tombs. The London Bridge Experience is a popular tourist attraction located on close to London Bridge on Tooley Street, in vaults below the southern abutment of the bridge. This is located opposite London Bridge station and The Shard, and a new skyscraper currently under construction. The attraction has been open since February 2008 and cost around £2,000,000 to develop.

Focusing on the fear of fear itself, the Phobophobia Halloween show at London Bridge Experience brings you nose-to-nose with the topic of common phobias. Well I say common, there’s a few outlandish ones thrown in as well for good measure. However you will find yourself going past walls that are dripping in blood, squeezing through confined spaces and gasping in terror as you’re met all the things of nightmares; spiders, snakes, rhubard, witches and of course, everyone’s favourite, clowns. During the day the London Bridge Experience is open to all ages, there’s even guardian angels available to help protect the younger visitors. But after dark it’s another story and the Phobophobia show really kicks off. Watch out for the Bloody Butcher and his murderous clan who will be found stalking the venue, on the lookout for their next victim…

The Phobophobia Halloween show runs from Monday 17th October until Tuesday 1st November 2011 with the family show running from 10am – 6pm daily. The real meat can be found in the evening show which runs from 7pm and for this all children under 11 must be accompanied by an adult. With tickets around £20 a pop, why not get down to London for the 2011 Phobophobia extravaganza?

A serviced apartment in London is a great way to spend Halloween especially if you’re heading to the city with the family. A serviced apartment is a great alternative to a hotel as you get much more room and get to enjoy a whole apartment rather than being stuck in the four walls of a hotel room. Serviced City Pads have a wide selection of serviced apartments across all of London so wherever you are staying they can find something for you. With a good range of apartments within a few tube stops of the London Bridge Experience, get in touch with Serviced City Pads to see what London serviced apartments they can offer.

Arcade Fire to play Hyde Park for one night only!

Friday, February 25th, 2011

After their recent triumph at the Brit Awards now seems like a good time for the Serviced City Pads blog to highlight a special show by the acclaimed Canadian art rockers Arcade Fire. The group, who took home the gongs for Best International Group and Best International Album, will be playing London’s Hyde Park on Thursday 30th June 2011. This will be one of only three UK gigs on their European tour beginning in Germany in June.

On receiving their awards Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler cited the huge influence that British musicians such as David Bowie and Joy Division have had on the band’s sound. The Hyde Park concert, along with dates in Edinburgh and Manchester, will see the band returning to the home ground of many of their favourite artists and a place where they now enjoy a devoted following thanks to their incredible live performances over the years. In promotion of the latest album “The Suburbs” these concerts should also see the crowd-pleasers from their first two albums “Funeral” and “Neon Bible” also get an airing. From the soaring “Wake Up” to the downbeat “My Body Is a Cage” this is a group with an incredible back catalogue and this London date should be something special for anyone lucky enough to be there.

The support acts for this show are the fellow Brit Awards success story Mumford and Sons, who have experienced a stratospheric rise over the last two years thanks to the quality of their album “Sigh No More” which won them the prestigious Best British Album award. They will be joined by Beirut, a band famous for their quirky folk that incorporates Balkan influences, and up and coming guitar band The Vaccines.

There are still tickets available for this incredible show – if you haven’t yet got hold of one there is still time. If you are travelling to London for this event and need accommodation, why not contact us here at Serviced City Pads? We have a wide variety of serviced apartments available that could accommodate you and your friends if you are travelling to see Arcade Fire. Serviced apartments are becoming a popular alternative to hotels, as they offer so much more freedom and space than the traditional hotel room. You can visit our website and see for yourself the range of apartments that we have available. Why not e-mail us or give us a call and see what we can find for you for this or any other concert around the UK?

Stay in a London serviced apartment this Spring

Friday, January 28th, 2011

The evenings are starting to get a bit lighter, the sun is making its first few appearances of the year. If you’re lucky you might notice the first few green leaves and shoots of the year. That’s right, Spring is almost upon us. After an extremely chilly winter in the UK with record snowfall before Christmas, everyone is just about ready for an end to the winter of 2010/11 and being the nation obsessed with weather that we are, means that writing about the changing of a season is now an acceptable topic for a blog. Despite what you think you might think about London being a grey, dull, foggy place, it really is a beautiful city in the Spring time. London is home to some glorious parks such as Hyde Park, Green Park, Regent’s Park, Battersea Park, all wonderful places to spend a lukewarm Spring evening with a colleague or loved one.
If you’re coming to London for the Spring to take in all the wonderful sights and experiences then you will want some accommodation that matches the extraordinary mood that encapsulates the capital at this time of the year. That’s why more and more people are choosing serviced apartments in London as their accommodation of choice when visiting London.
The hotel market in London is close to saturation which means that with less availability in London hotels, the owners can afford to raise their prices which makes the already high prices in the capital seem even more astronomical to the punters. However this has opened up a gap in the market for serviced apartments in London which offer all the luxury and service of staying in a hotel at very competitive prices. Serviced Apartments are a very popular option when looking for accommodation in London and it’s easy to see why more and more people are choosing serviced apartments over hotels.
Not only does a serviced apartment offer all the comfort and service that you find in a hotel, but it also gives on average more than 50% more space than an equivalent hotel room. It’s not just the extra space as well that guests enjoy. Having the extra space of a front room with a dining area and sofas means that you can relax and enjoy your time in the apartment without being cramped into one room like you would in a hotel. If you are working in London that whatever you can do to help you relax after a day in one of the world’s busiest cities is sure to be happily received!
Serviced City Pads have a wide range of serviced apartments in London that are available to rent from 1 night to 1 year. Locations include Notting Hill apartments, West End apartments, City of London serviced apartments, Westminster apartments and many other areas of London. So give Serviced City Pads a call and see what London apartments they have for next time you’re looking for accommodation in London.

Travel Refreshed

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

Gatwick airport is within easy travelling distance to London and is the busiest single runway airport in the world. It is also the second largest airport in the United Kingdom and serves two hundred destinations. As approximately ninety airlines operate from Gatwick airport there is a very good chance that you will fly from there one day. However, getting to Gatwick – although not difficult – can be a very long journey for many holidaymakers, depending upon your location in the United Kingdom, and staying the night in London hotels nearby can be a more viable option than spending the night before a flight at home.

Rather than set off on holiday feeling tired and lethargic it is recommended that you travel to the airport and spend a night in one of the many hotels at Gatwick airport so that you will be refreshed and ready for your flight, especially if you have a long haul flight. Unfortunately, many of the hotels at Gatwick airport are extremely busy and can be quite noisy with people coming and going at all hours of the day and night. This hectic atmosphere can keep you awake when you are trying to get some much needed rest and will actually make you feel worse than ever.

If you really like the idea of getting a good night’s rest before jetting off on your holiday it may be advisable to stay in an apartment close to the airport. Not only will you have peace and quiet so that you can enjoy a good nights sleep, but you will have much more space to relax. Here at Serviced City Pads we have serviced apartments in London that allow you the convenience and comfort of home combined with the luxury of a top hotel at a comparable price.

Serviced Pads Centred Round The Barbican

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

If you rent London serviced apartments in the Barbican district, you may see the odd crumbling wall. Don’t worry, it’s Roman. It says a lot about Italian builders that the Roman wall was one of the few things left unscathed when the Germans bombed the rest of the city during the Blitz.

The Barbican was totally rebuilt in the 1950s, and today it is dominated by its arts centre – the largest in Europe. Within this confusing labyrinth of walkways you will find two theatres, three cinemas, one concert hall, two galleries, a library, a museum and various societies and drama groups. These include the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the Royal Shakespeare Company and the London Symphony Orchestra.

If you’ve booked accommodation in London for business with Serviced City Pads, you’ll probably want to chill out. Wander to the relaxing foyer. Here, there are live jazz recitals 7 days a week. For the price of a coffee and a Danish pastry, you can tap away at your laptop while a world renowned artiste tootles in the background. Book London serviced apartments during the London Jazz Festival, and the Barbican is one long symphony of blues, jazz and swing.

Once you’ve got your bearings, the Barbican is an entrancing masterpiece. Works of modern art and sculpture vie with Roman remains and placid landscaped gardens. Fountains and grassy paths share floor space with renowned tourist attractions like the London Museum. When you book serviced apartments in London, you’ll realise the Barbican is a place that will never want to let you go.

Apart Hotels In London – What Are They?

Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010

There is accommodation in London of all kinds, from chic city apartments to rooms in apart hotels – officially known as apartment hotels. People are often confused between the two, but really there isn’t much difference between an apart hotel and other serviced apartments – in London or elsewhere.

Apart hotels are apartment complexes with a hotel style booking system. They are an extremely popular alternative to hotels, especially for those uncertain how long they will be staying for. There are no fixed contracts, and check-out can be whenever you choose.

At Serviced City Pads, we have luxury serviced apartments in London’s High Holborn Apart Hotel, which offer numerous benefits over traditional hotels. Deposits are only required for stays of 30 days or more, and you can take your meals any time. The hotel is sumptuously appointed, with large rooms at costs below what you would expect to pay for an equivalent hotel.

Extended stays in London hotel accommodation is nothing new, of course. In the 1930s, it was fashionable to have a “suite at Claridges” if you were really wealthy.

However, things have moved on. London hotels today cater mainly for short-stay visitors, rather than residential clients. Apartment hotels have taken things full circle. If you are used to conventional hotels, an apart hotel is the perfect introduction to London serviced apartments. The lobby is familiar – but there the similarity ends. Instead of rigid, minimally furnished hotel rooms you are accommodated in luxurious, fully-fitted apartments with a full range of amenities.

We at Serviced City Pads recommend our apart hotels for anyone wanting long-stay accommodation in London.
