Serviced Apartments London for the Titans of Cricket

Tuesday, August 2nd, 2011

The O2 Arena is London’s newest, biggest and probably most prestigious indoor arena. This stunning venue in the capital city attracts an incredible variety of world class entertainment, from live music, shows, to comedy and world class sporting events like the World Tennis Finals.

With plenty of London accommodation options close be, if a major event comes to London it will usually come to the O2 Arena. In October 2011 the ‘Titans of Cricket’ takes place at the O2. With a capacity of 20,000, many fans can enjoy the show as stars of the cricket world go head to head in this magnificent arena. ‘Titans of Cricket’ aims to bring together all the action from Twenty20, the IPL and World Cricket to provide a stunning evening of cricket action. The event lasts for 2 hours and will see 4 teams battle it out for victory; England lead by Freddie Flintoff, India marshalled by Virender Sehwag, Australia headed by David Boon and Pakistan captained by the ‘king of swing’ Wasim Akram. Some of the other names that will be making an appearance include Paul Collingwood, Adam Gilchrist, Shahid Afridi, Marcus Trescothick and many, many more. The even promises to be one the greatest cricketing spectacles of all time with some of the greatest players the sport has known in modern times all assembled under one roof.

Each team will have to compete in 5 different challenges to test their cricketing skills to the max. ‘Ultimate Fielder’ will test the skill and ability of the players, and the sort of skills you would normally wait hours to see can be views in an amazing 90 second burst. ‘Bat Attack’ will see the player’s batting skills truly stretched as they are forced to hit targets under pressure from all angles testing all the shots. ‘Stumps’ is similar to the bowl out, but with a few added twists… ‘Stand & Deliver’ is simply a test of who is the hardest hitter. But expect an explosive edge to proceedings in this challenge. ‘Over & Out’ is the final challenge which aims to test the physical and technical ability of the players and they will have to push themselves harder than ever before to be the ultimate victors.

Getting a serviced apartment in London would be a good suggestion if you are looking for accommodation in London close to the O2 Arena. With serviced apartments in Canary Wharf, plenty round the City of London and lots more in central London, there is an abundance of serviced apartments in London to choose from. You just have to make sure that you book plenty in advance as, especially through the summer months, the accommodation market in London can be very saturated.

Need a serviced apartment for a visit to London to see the King of Rock-and-Roll

Monday, July 25th, 2011

At Serviced City Pads we have serviced apartments available in London. If you are thinking of visiting London why not take a look at serviced apartments for your stay?

One person who will be visiting London (well, sort of) is the king of rock and roll, Elvis Presley. The King will be playing two shows at the O2 arena on the 16th and 17th March 2011 giving his fans a chance to see him live. The Serviced City Pads blog should clarify that the King won’t actually be playing; instead it will be thanks to modern technology that his fans will get to see him. Archive footage of the great man will be projected on to the stage to give people a chance to see what the Elvis live experience was like. The virtual Elvis will be accompanied by a live band featuring some of his former bandmates. It is sure to be an unforgettable experience for an Elvis afficianado.

Serviced apartments in London are a great alternative option to hotel rooms. A typical serviced apartment offers much more space and comfort that a hotel – it has bedrooms, bathrooms, a fitted kitchen, and a lounge and dining area which is a great place to unwind. Best of all, if you are travelling as a family or as a group you can all stay together if you were to book one of the larger apartments.

You can see the range of serviced apartments available in London by visiting the Serviced City Pads website. All you need to do is click on London on the site map, and you will be taken to the London page (or you can just click here to go straight to the London page). As you will see there is everything from studio and 1 bedroom apartments up to larger apartments that can accommodate groups and families.

So, if you are coming to London to see Elvis Presley why not contact us? You can call us on 0844-335-8866 to talk to our reservations team, or you can send an enquiry through our website.

Prepare Yourself for a Night of Fear… with Alice Cooper!

Tuesday, July 19th, 2011

The Serviced City Pads blog always likes to keep up to speed with the strange and wonderful events occurring in London. There are some unusual events happening this Halloween, some of which have already been covered in previous blogs, such as the Passage of Terror. One upcoming event that has caught the attention of the Serviced City Pads blog is a special Halloween show by the great Alice Cooper.

Alice Cooper’s Halloween Night of Fear concert will take place at London’s Alexandra Palace on Saturday 29th October 2011. The support act for the show will be the legendary New York Dolls, and then the main event will be a show by the iconic Alice Cooper himself. Alice should perform all his hits, such as “School’s Out” and “Teenage Frankenstein”. One of the most famous showmen and entertainers in rock and roll, it remains to be seen what kind of ghoulish delights he will have cooked up for his London audience. However, the Night of Fear will not be just another show – there will also be some special guests joining Alice on stage. A competition was held for all Alice Cooper fans to dress up in the spookiest, strangest ways possible in order to win a spot on stage that night with their hero. It should be a fantastic sight to see Alice Cooper perform with some of his most devoted fans dressed up as… well, we’ll have to wait and see!

If you will be making a pilgrimage to London to see Alice Cooper live in London this Halloween, you are probably now thinking about accommodation. If this is the case, you should take a look at the Serviced City Pads website. We have a wide range of serviced apartments available in London, from studio apartments that are ideal for couples or single travellers, right up to apartments that can accommodate families or large groups. You can see the options available for yourself by visiting the London page on our website.

More and more travellers are turning to serviced apartments. A typical serviced apartment offers much more room and comfort than the traditional hotel room. Serviced apartments usually have bedrooms, bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living / dining area which is the perfect space to relax in.

So, if you’re coming to London to see the mighty Alice Cooper and the Night of Fear, please don’t be afraid to contact us here at Serviced City Pads to see what is available for you. You can call us on 0844-335-8866 to talk to one of our reservations team, or you can submit an enquiry through our website and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Is 2011/12 Gunner be their Season?

Friday, July 1st, 2011

The Serviced City Pads blog has been covering some of the goings on in this transfer window, and has already covered some of the big stories, such as Villas Boas’ arrival at Chelsea. However, the blog has not yet discussed events at another London club, Arsenal FC.

This next season is incredibly important to the Gunners. There is no doubting Arsene Wenger’s quality as a manager but, after the league cup loss to Birmingham and their crumbling in the league title run-in, it has now been 6 years since the Wengerboys have won a trophy. With their last triumph being the 2005 FA Cup victory over Manchester United, many fans are becoming impatient – a feeling perhaps shared by some players. Captain and talisman Cesc Fabregas looks likely to finally make his dream move to the Nou Camp a reality this summer, and he may not be the only high profile player to depart the Emirates.

Samir Nasri has been one of the Gunners’ best performers this season and Wenger may have been hoping his impact would soften the blow of losing Fabregas. However, Nasri seems like he may also be leaving – with one year left on his contract he is being heavily courted by Manchester United, and a £20,000,000 move up north seems like it could well happen. Left-back Gael Clichy, also with one year left, looks set to depart; Manchester City have become the favourites for his signature. This is not to mention other players who are agitating for a move, such as Denilson and Nicklas Bendtner. The loss of these players would be a heavy blow to Wenger’s project, and could also cause other key players to consider their own future.

It seems like this summer is a crossroads for Arsenal – it could be the most important transfer window in a long time. After the abject conclusion to this most recent season, it seems that Wenger will change his usual recruitment policy. He has been looking to add some experience and strength to the team, particularly in defence. Players who have been linked with Arsenal include Gary Cahill and Christopher Samba, both of whom would add some much needed presence to the defence. No major moves have yet been made, but it will be interesting to see what Arsenal’s squad looks like by the first day of the season.

If you’re going to be visiting London to see Arsenal for the 2011/12 season, perhaps you are thinking of staying in a serviced apartment? Serviced apartments are a popular option as they are more comfortable and spacious than the average hotel room, yet the prices are just as competitive. Here at Serviced City Pads we have a wide range of serviced apartments all over London available through our apartment operators. There are studio and 1 bedroom apartments, ideal for lone travellers and couples, and large apartments that can accommodate families and large groups.

If you’re going to be visiting London, why not contact us here at Serviced City Pads and see what we can do for you? You can call us on 0844-335-8866 and talk to one of our reservations team, or you can enquire through our website and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

The “Group One,” and a new dawn for Chelsea FC

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

The Serviced City Pads blog knows that summer is always an interesting time for football fans. Though we are taking an enforced break from club football, there is still plenty happening. We are right in the middle of the transfer market silly season, with all sorts of rumours flying around. Nasri to Manchester United? Drogba to Marseille? Neymar to Real Madrid? Fabregas to Barcelona? (Let’s hope so – not that the Serviced City Pads blog hasn’t enjoyed the crushing tedium of the “Will he, won’t he?” Cesc – Barca pantomime that has been going on and on and on…)

However, to focus so much on the players is to neglect the always entertaining managerial merry-go-round that is in full swing at the moment. There have been some great stories: McLeish to Villa, anyone? A return to management for the excellent Chris Hughton at Birmingham FC. Martin Jol returning to London to manage Fulham. Then there’s always the Serviced City Pads blog’s personal favourite, Mark Hughes high profile exit from Fulham in order to manage… no-one? All these are great stories, but they have surely been eclipsed by the one of the most audacious hirings in recent memory – Villas Boas’ move from Porto to take the reins at Chelsea FC.

At only 33 years of age, the former assistant coach to a certain Jose Mourinho looks like a risky signing. However, in his comparatively brief career he has demonstrated that he is a man to be taken seriously. He comes to Chelsea for the 2011/12 season having just led Porto to victory in the league, cup and Europa League. He is an ambitious coach who is determined to win trophies, but whilst playing good football. He is also, in stark contrast to his mentor, a modest individual who stresses the importance of unity and co-operation. He has recently described himself as “The Group One”. It is tempting to see Villas Boas as the personification of everything that the London club want to become in the next few seasons. Everyone at the club seems to recognise that now is the time for change – Chelsea’s ageing squad has become a worry, and is in need of an overhaul. They will also be hoping to gain some stability and to hopefully claim the prize that has so far eluded them: the Champions League.

However, already some are politely sceptical about this new dawn. They are asking questions such as: How long before Villas Boas has a few bad results and is pushed out the exit door (following in the footsteps of Ranieri, Mourinho, Grant, and Ancelotti)? How will the players respond to the new man, who they have known previously as Mourinho’s assistant? How many of the current Chelsea squad will still be there come the first day of the season? It’s going to be very interesting finding out the answers to these questions over the next few months.

If you’re going to be coming to London next season, perhaps you would like to stay in a serviced apartment? Serviced apartments are an excellent alternative to the usual hotel option – they offer more space and comfort and are an excellent choice for single travellers or couples right up to families and groups. You can see the range of serviced apartments available in London through our apartment operators by clicking here.

Why not get in touch with us here at Serviced City Pads and see what we can do for you? You can call us on 0844-335-8866 to talk to one of our reservations team, or you can submit an enquiry through our website and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Secure Olympic accommodation with Serviced City Pads

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

With the tickets in such high demand ensure its not also a ballot for your accommodation.

London 2012 organisers said they were “thrilled” after revealing they had received applications for more than 20m Olympics tickets during the first phase of sales.

Our serviced apartments in London offer a great alternative to hotels. The London serviced accommodation we offer is value for money and will allow you the freedom that hotels can not. If you wish to come on a trip to London then call our reservations team today on 08443358866. Serviced City Pads are the premier booking agency for serviced accommodation in London and across the UK. Many of our apartments are available to book online. We can also offer you a personal booking service from a team with strong local knowledge.

More than half of the 650 sessions are already oversubscribed at the end of the first round of ticket sales, with track cycling, rhythmic gymnastics, triathlon and the equestrian cross country among the first sports to sell out.

The opening ceremony, for which tickets range from £20.12 to £2,012, was the most popular event and was more than 10 times oversubscribed. Successful applicants will have money taken from their accounts between 10 May and 10 June and will be notified which tickets they will receive before 24 June.

Track cycling, in which Team GB won an unprecedented eight gold medals in Beijing, was always expected to be among the hottest tickets, as were the opening and closing ceremonies.

But some of the other sports to sell out are more surprising. They include rhythmic gymnastics, modern pentathlon, the cross country equestrian events in Greenwich Park and the triathlon in Hyde Park. All have a committed following, a limited number of sessions and tend to be reasonably priced. Locog said that most swimming and tennis sessions had also sold out.

If you or anybody you know is coming to the capital for the Olympics or for anything else then try staying in one of our serviced apartments. They are more comfortable and more spacious than a hotel room, allowing you and your friends a place to relax and cater for yourselves. Serviced City Pads have apartments throughout the UK. One of our London apartments could be exactly what you’re looking for. Get in touch and see what we can find for your visit to London. You can send us an email or you can call 08443358866 to talk to one of our reservations team who will be happy to help you find an apartment.

Believe It or Not – a strange day out in London…

Thursday, December 23rd, 2010

This humble blogger is excited to bring your attention to the Ripley’s Believe it or Not museum in London’s Piccadilly Circus. Ripley’s is a museum with a difference! It features the most mind-bendingly strange and wonderful sights you are ever likely to see – the London branch boasts over 500 exhibits from around the world. If you want to see a Beatles sculpture made out of chewing gum, a shrunken head, a two-headed calf and hear the tragic life story of Robert Wadlow (the tallest man of all time at 8 feet 11 inches) all under one roof then this is the museum for you! This blogger has been fortunate enough to visit a number of Ripley’s museums in exotic locations around the world (and nearby Blackpool!) and is kicking himself that he has visited London relatively recently without being aware that there was another Ripley’s that he could add to the checklist. However, this is an oversight that your blogger intends to rectify. If you’re going to be visiting London in the new year, why not find the time to visit Ripley’s and enjoy an unforgettable experience?

Of course, a visit to the capital can be a headache in terms of finding somewhere to stay, but help is at hand for you. Why not get in touch with us here at Serviced City Pads? We can find you somewhere – we have a large number of apartments listed on our site (see for yourself here) and we are working to add more all the time.

See The Sights Of London

Thursday, May 27th, 2010

London is not only the capital city, but is also the home of many tourist attractions including the home of our Queen and many historical and cultural attractions. People visit London from all over the world to see the home of the Royal family and the Changing of the Guard. Whilst in London there are many other places to visit and it can be very easy to spend a week or so travelling around London to see the sights. One of the obvious places to stay whilst in London is one of the many London airport hotels, which are low cost and convenient – but there are more London hotels and accommodation options than one may think.

However, staying in London airport hotels is fine for one or two nights but can become very tedious if you are looking for any amount of peace and quiet as well as solitude. After a long day sightseeing a few minutes to spend by yourself is always welcome to recharge your batteries and collect your thoughts. In a hotel room you will have no space or privacy which can become tedious. It is also hard to get a good night’s sleep as other guests tend to be noisy at night as well as hotel staff working through the night.

Here at Serviced City Pads we offer the perfect alternative to London airport hotels. Serviced apartments in London will offer the convenience of the city whilst also providing plenty of space to allow you to recharge your batteries. You will also be able to enjoy the freedom of choosing whether you dine out or make an evening meal at home in your apartment.
