Serviced apartments available in Manchester for Cher Lloyd concert

Thursday, November 24th, 2011

Apartments in Manchester are still available for next April when Cher Lloyd will be playing the Manchester Academy. Serviced apartments are becoming more and more people’s first choice for accommodation when visiting Manchester, as they offer much more space than the typical hotel room. A serviced apartment will have the bedroom and bathroom, but then the vast majority also have a kitchen and a living and dining area. If you will be in Manchester for Cher Lloyd’s concert at the Manchester Academy, a Manchester serviced apartment could be the ideal place to stay.

Cher Lloyd will be performing at the Manchester Academy on the 6th April 2012 as one of the dates on her UK tour to promote her debut album “Sticks + Stones”. Lloyd was one of the standout contestants on last year’s X Factor, very much dividing opinion among the viewing public. She won over the judges at the audition stage with a performance of Keri Hilson’s “Turn My Swag On”, and got through boot camp to judges’ houses where she was mentored by Cheryl Cole. Despite suffering from a throat infection that meant she couldn’t finish her chosen song, Cheryl surprised everyone by putting Lloyd through as one of her girls. She breezed through the competition for the most part, and was a big hit with the judges. However, Lloyd had a difficult time later on in the competition, being put in the bottom two of the public vote in week 7, though she was saved by the judges. She got through to the semi-final, and then the final itself, where she was eliminated in fourth place. However, though she didn’t win the competition, Lloyd seems to have done very well out of The X Factor. After the show, she was signed to Syco Music, and has released her debut album earlier this month. If the success of the two singles “Swagger Jagger” and “With Ur Love” are anything to go by, then Cher Lloyd should be around for a while yet.

If you will be coming to Manchester to see Cher Lloyd next April, have you looked at Manchester apartments for your visit? Serviced apartments are a great choice for anyone visiting the city, and here at Serviced City Pads we have a wide range of serviced apartments available across the city. If you would like to find out more about Manchester apartments, why not get in touch with our reservations team and see what we can find for you. Lewis looks set to finally fulfil potential

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011

Adrian ‘Jackpot’ Lewis has long been one of the most exciting players in professional darts. His high scoring style and regular maximums has made for some thrilling matches in the past. Until recently, however, his success has fallen short of being truly representative of his ability. Lewis is looking to change that and is currently looking down on the rest of world darts. “It’s time to stop calling me Phil Taylor’s protégé” Jackpot announced after winning his maiden world championship. For most within the sport his title was no great surprise and he has been backed to win more.

The top eight starts of darts, including Lewis, will be once again competing in the round robin Premier League. 14 League nights will mean that there is certain to be top tungsten for the thousands of lucky spectators. Touring around the country they will make a regular stop at the world famous Manchester Evening News Arena. If you need serviced accommodation in Manchester then Serviced City Pads can help. Just call a member of our reservations team today 08443358866. We have a fantastic range of serviced apartments in Manchester in great locations.

Never short of a word or two the voice of darts Sid Waddell believes that Jackpot may now emulate the game’s greats: Eric Bristow and Phil Taylor. Of Bristow’s achievement’s Waddell once said “’When Alexander the Great was 33 he cried salt tears because there were no more worlds to conquer. Bristow is only 27”. He is no less certain of Phil ‘The Power’s’ place in history claiming that “If we’d had Phil Taylor at Hastings against the Normans, they’d have gone home.” Now Waddell believes Lewis may have the game and the tungsten to match them. Lewis is now freed from the pressure of Taylor’s shadow and it seems is not longer underachieving. Waddell concurs, “Adie Lewis is shaking off his caterpillar skin and learning to fly without a net.”

Wayne Rooney to Stay in Manchester?

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

Just a couple of weeks ago it would have seemed unthinkable to suggest that Wayne Rooney would ever leave Manchester United, and if he wasn’t going to stay in Manchester then he would surely be heading to the sunnier climate of Spain – maybe Madrid or Barcelona? Now it seems that Rooney may well end up deciding to stay in Manchester, but still opting to leave Manchester United and join bitter rivals Manchester City. Nobody at Serviced City Pads can believe what is happening.

A lot has happened since the alleged allegations of Rooney’s private life – particular goings on in a Manchester city centre hotel – were brought to the publics attention. It seems that Rooney has fallen out with United manager Alex Ferguson, and when that happens there is only ever one outcome, and one winner.

It is amazing to think that Rooney would make the short trip across Manchester, but is testament to City’s spending power that it is they who can afford any player they like…..wages of £1 million a month are being suggested and that won’t even bother the oil rich board at Eastlands.

Serviced City Pads, the serviced apartment booking company with serviced apartments in Manchester as well as many other UK destinations thinks that the unthinkable might happen. Rooney stays in Manchester, but switches to the Sky blue of City. You can’t imagine him coping with a new language in Spain and he has made no secret of wanting to be close to his family in Liverpool. So a move to City makes sense, although we’re not sure how it will be received by the throngs of supporters who regularly visit Old Trafford to watch Manchester United.

Premier League fixtures for 2010/11 announced

Thursday, June 17th, 2010

The fixture list for 2010/11 have just been announced and it already looks like a fasciniting season ahead for Liverpool and Manchester United.

After a disastrous season last year and now without a manager (Rafa Benitez was effectively sacked and has since moved to European champions Inter Milan), Liverpool – a club that many people feel is in turmoil as they plunge further into debt under the stwardship of their American owners – will be hoping for a better 2010/11 season. They start the season at home to Arsenal over the weekend of August 14th (some dates will change due to TV and this particular match looks a certainty to be shown on Sky Sports). Other early season opponents at Anfield include West Brom, Sunderland and Blackpool.

Manchester United lost out in the title race to a strong Chelsea side and many feel that Alex Ferguson hasn’t done enough to replace superstar winger Christiano Ronaldo. Many United supporters feel that Ferguson’s hands are tied, also because of another reviled American owner - The Glazer family – and are worried to see their club plunge further into debt. A takeover looks unlikely in the short term, although the campaigners wearing the Green and Gold scarves (the original colours worn by Manchester United) will hope to pour on the pressure and drive Glazer away from Old Trafford. Supporters are uneasy by the massive debt and inevitable challenge of neighbours Manchester City.

Manchester United start their premier league campaign with a tantalising match against newly promoted Newcastle United, with other early home games in Manchester against West Ham, Liverpool and Sunderland.

Serviced City Pads will be dealing with many supporters who follow both teams from afar. We find that there are many Manchester United fans who travel to Manchester from Southern Ireland and stay in Manchester for the weekend. The same applies to fans of Liverpool FC, but there are also a number of scandinavian fans who stay in Liverpool for 2 or 3 days either side of watching a premier league match.

As Serviced City Pads have now launched the SCP rewards club, it makes perfect sense to join the club now (it doesn’t cost anything) and then book your accommodation in Manchester for every home match throughout the season. You will be rewarded for every night accommodation that you book with us. To find out more click here

We also find that if you are a group wishing to stay in Manchester it makes better sense to stay in a Manchester serviced apartment rather than staying in a manchester hotel. The apartment option offers more space and means you can have a beer together as a group before you go out for the evening. It offers a more communal and less formal atmosphere than the 4 walls of a hotel room. A serviced apartment in manchester – for a group stay – will also generally work out to be better value for meny than booking a hotel in Manchester.

So if you are looking to book a short stay in Manchester, you should contact Serviced City Pads straight away. We are the specialist serviced apartment booking company with a wide range of great value serviced apartments in Manchester.

Accommodation gems for a Manchester wedding

Monday, March 15th, 2010

A popular reason to book luxury serviced apartments in Manchester is for family celebrations – especially weddings. With accommodation ranging from intimate suites in graded Regency houses, to spacious modern apartments large enough for work meetings, we at Serviced City Pads can accommodate not only the bride and groom, but the guests as well.

When people book accommodation in Manchester for a wedding, it may not necessarily be a traditional church ‘do.’ The city has a number of alternative wedding venues, including civic buildings, stately homes and even a submarine! The House of Fraser is better known for gifts than weddings, but just round the corner is Parsonage Gardens, one of numerous hidden gems near the river, that’s perfect for a post-ceremonial photo shoot.

Religious ceremonies are still the most popular way to go – and Manchester has an impressive selection of both Christian and non-Christian venues. Popular for traditionalists is Manchester Cathedral. Originally the parish church, it only gained cathedral status in 2002 and is as bookable as any other church.  Medieval in origin, it was practically rebuilt in the 19th century – although for once, the Victorians stuck close to the plans of the original. Sited close to the river, guests booking serviced apartments in central Manchester will find it easily.

Roman Catholic couples traditionally book their ceremonies at St Mary’s. This “hidden gem” was the first post-reformation RC church in England, and was consecrated in 1794. Beautiful inside, it’s worth visiting for its artworks alone.

Whether you’re guests or the lucky couple, we at Serviced City Pads have luxury serviced apartments in Manchester’s most popular wedding areas.
