Serviced apartments in Liverpool for Duran Duran at the ECHO Arena

Thursday, September 8th, 2011

Serviced apartments are still available in Liverpool for the visit of Duran Duran this December. Here at Serviced City Pads we have a variety of serviced apartments available in Liverpool that can provide accommodation for anyone travelling to see the show. To see the options available visit the Liverpool city page on our website by clicking here.

Duran Duran will be playing the Liverpool ECHO Arena on 10th December as part of their UK tour and serviced apartments are available for that night. The “All You Need is Now” tour will be coming to the UK in December, and all the fans of Duran Duran will be pleased to see it. The tour was initially going to be in May, but had to be postponed due to frontman Simon LeBon’s vocal problems. However, come December LeBon and his bandmates should be in rude health and ready to rock arenas across the UK. Duran Duran were formed in 1978, and became one of the biggest bands in the world in the 80’s. When they play the ECHO Arena, the band should be performing their greatest hits like “Rio”, “Save a Prayer”, and “The Reflex”. The making of the band was the 1982 album “Rio” which was a worldwide success; it did particularly well in America where the band was part of a wave of British performers making inroads. One of the key aspects of Duran Duran is their image – the band has always been very careful in how they are presented. They have always been snappy dressers – People magazine labelled the band “the prettiest boys in rock” – and they worked with fashion designers to ensure they looked elegant and stylish. This same attention to detail was applied to their music videos – the band was one of the first to use proper movie cameras for their videos, making them stand out from the crowd. Reunited in the early 2000s, the band still know how to make an impression and are as stylish as ever, and fans coming to Liverpool to attend the ECHO Arena show are in for a polished and stylish show.

If you will be coming to Liverpool to see Duran Duran, perhaps you are interested in serviced apartments for accommodation? Serviced apartments offer a home away from home and are a great place to relax in. The typical apartment has a living and dining area, and a kitchen, as well as the usual bedroom and bathroom. There are apartments to suit couples or lone travellers, as well as those that can accommodate friends or families. To see the options available, take a look at the Liverpool city page on the Serviced City Pads website.

If you will be visiting Liverpool this December to see Duran Duran and are interested in serviced apartments, contact us here at Serviced City Pads and we will be happy to help you find the best options. You can call 0844-335-8866 to speak to a member of our reservations team, or you can send us your enquiry through our website and we will respond as soon as possible.

Is the Liverpool hotel market really becoming saturated?

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

According to a recent quote attributed to a Director at Sanguine Hospitality Management, the Liverpool hotel market is close to saturation for a city of it’s size.

This is a remarkable statement – not for the fact that is true or otherwise, but more so the fact that if you had stayed in Liverpool only 5 or so years ago (you would have struggled to find a decent hotel in Liverpool) you just couldn’t believe that anybody would be saying such a thing in 2010. It is a stement that goes to show just how much Liverpool has developed as a city over the last few years.

Sanguine are opening Hotel Indigo in Liverpool in the early part of 2011. This is a 151 bedroom Boutique hotel in Liverpool’s commercial district (situated on Chapel Street next to the iconic Unity Building and just a stones throw from St Nicholas’ church on the Strand. This is undoubtedly a fantastic location for a new hotel in Liverpool city centre and will be popular with business people as well as tourists staying in Liverpool for a city break or holiday in Liverpool.

It is fair to say that a number of new hotels have recently opened in Liverpool – including the Liverpool Hilton and Novotel Liverpool centre, and there are other new Liverpool hotels set to open in 2011 and 2012.

If you start to add the number of new hotel beds to the growing number of serviced apartments in Liverpool, you can see that the city now has a good selection of accommodation across the city centre (and occupation rates remain at almost the same record levels as was seen during the 2008 Capital of Culture).

But is it a saturated market?

Chris Rose, Managing Direct at Serviced City Pads – a Liverpool based serviced apartment booking company doesn’t think so. He commented “I think the key missing word from the original quote is “current” and that is an important word relating to the size of the city, in terms of leisure and corporate visitors. Liverpool is becoming a popular tourist destination relying less and less on the visiting supporters of Liverpool FC. The city is also becoming an extremely popular destination for comferences, and that’s highlighted by the recent Lib Dem conference and the recently announced Labour party conference to be held in Liverpool. People’s perceptions of Liverpool have changed dramatically over the last 10 years, and that is good news for Liverpool’s hospitality sector.

With a greater choice of Liverpool hotels (as well as more serviced apartments and other self catering accommodation in Liverpool) this can only be good news for the consumer. It will lead to increased standards across the board and only the best will survice. That’s not a bad thing.

Serviced City Pads is company that is based in Liverpool and sees the changing face of the city on a daily basis. However, we are an outward looking company with thousands of serviced apartments listed across the UK. We deal with companies accommodation requirements in a number of UK cities and will be looking to add hotels to our portfolio in the near future.”

Celebrate in Style

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

One of the most famous dates on the racing calendar is the Grand National at Aintree in Liverpool. This race first took place in 1847 and is part of a three day racing event. Millions of people all over the world tune in to their televisions to watch the race which is renowned for the courage and stamina required to complete this arduous course. On the day itself, in April each year thousands of visitors flock to the course to watch the Grand National. One famous horse who won the Grand National three times in the nineteen seventies is Red Rum, who is now buried by Aintree’s winning post; a horse loved by the nation.

In April each year hotels near Liverpool airport are fully booked with visitors flocking to Aintree for the three day racing event of the year. It can be difficult to find a hotel that will be able to accommodate all the members of your racing party which can result in groups using more than one hotel. At busy times of year such as this, hotels near Liverpool airport are very busy, which can result in less than pleasant dining experiences as well as noise at night when you are trying to sleep.

An alternative is to book a serviced apartment in Liverpool with a company such as Serviced City Pads, as we are able to accommodate all party sizes. With our apartments you will receive clean towels and bedding for your use, as well as plenty of space and a peaceful night’s sleep.

Opt for serviced apartments in Liverpool over hotels this year for a guaranteed high quality experience.

The Mersey Ferry fleet is still going strong

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

No matter what your reason for renting luxury serviced apartments in Liverpool, you’re sure to start whistling the famous song the moment you see your first ferry crossing the Mersey. It’s an iconic image that hasn’t changed since the 1960s, when Gerry Marsden first penned those famous words.

There have been ferries crossing the Mersey since Mediaeval times – they were recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086. In the 14th century, Birkenhead Priory ran the service to the tiny village of Liverpool. Following the dissolution of the monasteries, the ferries were run as privately owned, fully rigged sailing ships. Not a good idea, on a foggy river with little wind!

Literally hundreds of ferries have come and gone over the years – including fully rigged sailing ships. Not a good idea in a narrow shipping channel with heavy fogs and little wind!  In 1914, the SS Iris and Daffodil served as troop ships, resulting in the word “Royal” being added to their names. The Royal naming tradition continued until 1960, when a new generation of “super modern” diesel ferries were launched. Their grand titles – Woodchurch, Mountwood and Overchurch – were names of post-war housing developments! Given a total refit in the 1990s, they were renamed Snowdrop, Royal Daffodil and Royal Iris  – the latest generation of “Royal Flowers” on the Mersey.

We at Serviced City Pads have a number of serviced apartments in Liverpool’s waterfront district, where you can watch these historic vessels chugging away to your heart’s content. To learn more, book accommodation in Liverpool and head for the fascinating maritime museum.

Retail Therapy In Liverpool One

Monday, January 11th, 2010

People rent accommodation in Liverpool One for both business and pleasure. Previously called The Paradise Project, work was started in 2004 and finished in 2009. The aim of the project was to redevelop 42 acres of underused land in Liverpool’s city centre, to create a major retail, residential and leisure park.

When people rent luxury serviced apartments in Liverpool One, their minds immediately turn to shopping. And it’s true that despite the leisure centre, offices and residential premises (some of which are rented out as serviced apartments in Liverpool) Liverpool One is first and foremost a shopping centre. It is anchored by the department stores of John Lewis and Debenhams, and incorporates a multi-screen Odeon cinema.

Liverpool One was built to give Liverpool’s economy a boost by creating jobs and lifting its retail profile. It has done this admirably – Liverpool One is one of the largest and busiest shopping centres in Europe and we’re delighted to be able to offer apartments in Liverpool right at its heart.

The gleaming glass and steel covers hundreds of years of history but, to be fair, the real vandalism was already done in the 1940s, when the Liverpool blitz destroyed the old buildings standing on the site. During initial excavations in Chavasse Park, archaeological investigations were undertaken, as the park covered these ruins. There was some excitement in 2008 when Channel 4 filmed a Time Team Special, excavating the Old Dock now covered by Canning Street car park.

We at Serviced City Pads have luxury serviced apartments in Liverpool One, that put you right in the centre of one of the UK’s top retail districts. A visit to the city museum will tell you all about the history that lies buried under it. Visit our site to see some of the apartments in Liverpool we have on offer.
