July 2011 will see the brand new Museum of Liverpool open its doors to the public for the first time. It looks set to be one of the world’s leading city history museums, setting the global benchmark for museums of its kind and raising social history as a museum discipline to an international scale. The museum is aimed at demonstrating Liverpool’s unique contribution to the world and will showcase its popular culture whilst also tackling social, historical and contemporary issues. The displays in the new Museum of Liverpool will draw on exhibits about the city from National Museums Liverpool’s entire collections.
