Watch Cirque du Soleil at the Royal Albert Hall

Wednesday, January 11th, 2012

The magical world of Cirque du Soleil come to the Royal Albert Hall until February 5th 2012, I decided to make the trip and stay in a London Serviced Apartment through Serviced City Pads who can be contacted on 0844 335 8866.
I have been to the Royal Hall for the last night of the proms however this amazing display was something quite different; this is the second incarnation of this wonderful show which I believe has some wonderful visual effects and a great musical score. The show is a dramatic mix of Circus arts and street entertainment which originally comes from Canada where the troupe started in 1980 and toured initially around Quebec. After three years Cirque due Soleil then received a grant from the Canadian arts council which allowed them to tour throughout the country.
As we know the troupe has gone on to worldwide success with many different groups touring the world, you will have to buy a ticket and experience the wonders of Cirque and you like me will return to your London Apartment suitably impressed by the sheer wonderful performance.
I recommend staying in apartments in London due to the increase of nearly fifty percent space versus a hotel. Serviced City Pads supply apartments throughout London.

Visit Harrod’s for some Christmas Shopping

Monday, December 19th, 2011

Charles Henry Harrods opened this iconic store in 1824 at the grand old age of 24, I decided to visit this world renowned store to establish what Christmas presents they could expect, so I decided to stay in London. Charles Harrods initially had his original stores in Borough and then Clerkenwell, after a few years in the city he left due to the inner city vice to Brompton where the Great Exhibition was being held. Brompton is where the current Harrods’s is today.
After leaving my London Apartment to visit the store, I knew I would be in for the treat there is 1 million square foot of store space broken down into 330 departments, I had my Christmas list and went into the store with huge excitement as in 2010 the Qatari investment fund had acquired the store and proceeded with a large store upgrade programme.
5, 000 employees now work at Harrods from 50 different Nationalities so I knew there would be great help to select the right presents for the family.
The shop’s 330 departments offer a wide range of products and services. Products on offer include clothing for women, men, children and infants, electronics, jewellery, sporting gear, bridal trousse, pets and pet accessories, toys, food and drink, health and beauty items, packaged gifts, stationery, housewares, home appliances, furniture, and much more
After purchasing many gifts for the family I headed back to my London Serviced Apartment for a well earned rest.

Enjoy the Trafalgar Square Christmas Tree

Friday, December 16th, 2011

A really great recommendation this Christmas is a visit to Trafalgar Square which is a magical Winter Wonderland, I decided to take the family down and stay in London where we could make a weekend event.
Trafalgar Square at Christmas has a huge tree which has been donated to the City of London as a gift since 1947 by the City of Oslo for Great Britain’s support during the second world war, each year the Mayor of London (currently the Conservative politician Boris Johnson) visit a forrest just outside the City of Oslo to help select the tree to spend it’s Christmas in Trafalgar Square in Central London.
We left our London Apartment on route to Trafalgar Square to watch the Christmas tree with hundreds of lights, there were a huge amount of Carol singers who also are great at supporting charities at Christmas, I, wife and family sang along to all the great carols and had a wonderful time. After several hours wondering the square we then headed back to our London Serviced Apartment. The Trafalgar Square Christmas tree is taken down on the 12th night of Christmas.

Get your Christmas Treats at Borough Market

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011

Christmas day will soon be here and a great place to shop for great produce is Borough Market in South London, I suggest a stay in London would be a perfect treat prior to Christmas.
What can you expect from Borough Market, Borough Market is a food market and you have a whole range of rural producers selling fruit and vegetables through to cafe’s selling bubble and squeak in a breakfast barm. I stayed in a London Apartment located near Borough market so we were up early to sample the wonderful produce on sale; I was cooking Christmas lunch so would look at my list of the elements to purchase. Straight to the vegetable stall, all the products on the stall had come from the farm in Suffolk, great big potatoes for Roasties and not forgetting turnips, sprouts, broccoli the Suffolk produce was absolutely fantastic. Next was the free range turkey, my wife pulled me over to an organic turkey stall, these chaps had come up to London from Hampshire, we managed to get a really large free range turkey for a fraction of what you would have paid in the big four supermarkets. After a day shopping at Borough Market we then popped back to our London Serviced Apartment to relax and sample the mulled wine we had also bought at the market

Visit the South Bank Chocolate Festival

Thursday, December 8th, 2011

Book a stay in London this December and visit London’s chocolate festival at the South Bank from 9 – 11 where you can wonder in the magical world of chocolate.
I decided to explore Chocolate festival with an overnight stay in a London Apartment and popped along to the South Bank to find out what to expect before the opening this weekend. Apparently you can expect to find ‘Chocolate Artisans’ who will demonstrate the art of making fine chocolate and if you’re lucky they will let you have a go also. The chocolate festival will also feature the following, William Curley, Bill McCarrick, Damian Allsop and Paul Wayne Gregory these chaps know their stuff and as I have a passion for chocolate I which my waistline can be a testament it will be a delight to learn from the masters.
So in summary there will be chocolate producers displaying their products which you can taste and purchase, chocolate producers making the product and showing you more importantly how to produce. I suspect after a full day at the South Bank chocolate festival I will be fully nourished and look forward to relaxing in my London Serviced Apartment.

Watch Cold Play at the O2 Arena

Wednesday, December 7th, 2011

Cold Play arrive in London on December 10th to play the O2 Arena, I would recommend you stay in London overnight as this is expected to be a great night of music and entertainment.
Cold Play were founded in 1996 by vocalist Chris Martin and lead guitarist Jonny Buckland, the two founders went on to enlist Guy Berryman as the bassist and Will Champion as the drummer, backing vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. The group had several names such as Pectoralz and Star Fish prior to renaming as Cold Play in 1998. I recommend that you enjoy your evening at the O2 Arena then spend the night and a great alternative to a hotel is a London Serviced Apartment.
Cold Play achieved worldwide fame after their single Yellow in 2000, followed by their debut single released in the same year Parachutes which went on to be critically acclaimed. What can you expect from Saturdays gig, well you can expect plenty of strobe lighting for which the band have been noted and also contain distorted guitar riffs and blessy undertones.
Book a ticket for the gig on Saturday night 10th December and I’m sure you will have a fantastic night, after the gig head back to central London and continue to party the night away and then relax at the end of the night in your very own London Apartment.

Visit London’s West End this Christmas

Monday, December 5th, 2011

The West End of London will be great place to visit this December where you will see the majority of London stores, Tourist Attractions and major government buildings.
I would personally head towards Oxford Street initially which is the busiest shopping street in Europe with all the major department stores such as Selfridges the upmarket store and of course all the major stores such John Lewis, Debenhams, Miss Selfridge and Top shop. Oxford Street throughout December is incredible busy however this gives you the real buzz of Christmas.
During my weekend stay in London I knew it would be a good idea to get up early on Saturday morning to beat the Christmas Shopping rush so we were the first shoppers in Selfridges at 9am Saturday morning which actually gave a great sense of pleasure, me and the wife split up to purchase each other’s Christmas presents so a went directly to the perfume counter to select something special for my wonderful wife. After the morning shopping we headed directly for lunch where I knew and special little bistro called Henri’s in St Christopher’s place. After a lovely lunch we headed back to our London Apartment to drop off our shopping then head back out to do some sightseeing so we headed over to the British Museum on Russell Street just near Bloomsbury. After the British museum we headed back to our Serviced London Apartment.
