Friday, January 13th, 2012

Liverpool apartments are available for the 26th February 2012 when The Drums will be playing the Liverpool Academy as part of their UK tour. Serviced apartments are becoming more and more popular with visitors to the city as they can offer much more space and comfort than the traditional hotel room. The Drums are one of the success stories of recent years. They were formed in 2008 in Florida by childhood friends Jonathan Pierce and Jacob Graham after they had become tired of electronic music. They moved to New York in 2009 where they quickly made a name for themselves. The buzz around the band grew with NME, Pitchfork and other trendsetters marking the band as one to watch. The band’s debut album was a big alternative hit, with the lead single “Let’s Go Surfing” showcasing the band’s energy and knack for a pop melody. The band will be touring their second album “Portamento” next month when they will be coming to Liverpool. The band have revealed that they almost split in the process of making the new album, but they have stuck together and the tour dates in the UK will be a great chance for any UK based Drums fans to see the group live.

Begun as a hobby, the band turned professional in 2001 due to the success of their live shows. For those of us who have not been fortunate enough to see Zeppelin live, the show will be a great opportunity to see some absolute rock classics performed with the care and passion that they deserve. The band do not go in for any of the wigs and costumes that most tribute bands go in for as they try to look like their heroes – for Whole Lotta Led it is all about the music, and giving the best performances possible. Serviced apartments available in Liverpool for Everton FC home games

Monday, October 31st, 2011

Serviced apartments in Liverpool are becoming more and more popular with visitors to the city, whether you are coming to see an Everton home game or for any other reason. Here at Serviced City Pads we have a range of serviced apartments available in Liverpool that could accommodate you for any visit to the city. To see the variety of serviced apartments available in Liverpool just visit the Liverpool city page on the Serviced City Pads website – you can do so by clicking here.

Serviced apartments are available in Liverpool for anyone visiting to see Everton FC play at home. These are difficult times for Everton – the club’s finances are in the spotlight like never before. City neighbours Liverpool have managed to jettison Hicks and Gillett, who reportedly took the club perilously close to going into administration during their tenure at Anfield, and gained new owners who seem to have ambition and money to spend. Now the blue half of Merseyside is drawing attention from the football world. The club and its fans are becoming increasingly concerned at the level of debt at Everton and despite the fact that owner Bill Kenwright has been trying to find a buyer it seems that none is forthcoming. There is increasing tension between Kenwright and certain sections of the Everton fanbase due to the leaking of a transcript of a meeting between Kenwright and members of supporters groups. There was recently a protest march by disaffected fans before a home game as they are upset that the club appears to be downscaling its ambitions in response to the situation. The sale of Spanish talisman Mikel Arteta to Arsenal and Jermaine Beckford to Leicester are a clear example of the fans’ concerns. The main players brought in have been loan signings in Drenthe and Straqualursi. Coming off a transfer window when the likes of Stoke and Sunderland have been able to splash the cash this is a worrying time for Everton fans. However, though the picture seems gloomy, Evertonians can take hope from the man in the dugout – in David Moyes they have one of the best managers around. He has managed to build a competitive squad on a much lower budget than his competitors yet season after season he has managed to keep Everton pushing for a European place. Moyes’ Everton teams have always been determined and organised and very hard to beat and despite the off field problems you wouldn’t bet against Moyes pulling another top 6 finish out the bag, and that is a testament to his quality as a manager.

If you will be coming to see Everton this season perhaps you have looked at serviced apartments for your visit? Here at Serviced City Pads we have a variety of serviced apartments across Liverpool available through our apartment operators. Serviced apartments are a home away from home, offering much more space and comfort than the typical hotel room. There are serviced apartments in Liverpool that are suitable for lone travellers and couples and ones that can accommodate families and groups. You can see the options available by visiting the Liverpool city page on the Serviced City Pads website.

To find out more about serviced apartments in Liverpool contact us here at Serviced City Pads and we will be happy to find the best options for you. Serviced apartments in Liverpool Novana at the O2 Academy

Monday, October 17th, 2011

Serviced apartments are still available in Liverpool for next January, when Novana will be playing the O2 Academy. Liverpool serviced apartments are the increasingly popular option over the usual hotel room. To see the variety of serviced apartments available in Liverpool, visit the Serviced City Pads website – you can do this by clicking here.

Novana will be coming to Liverpool next January and there are Liverpool serviced apartments available to accommodate anyone visiting the city that night. Novana are a leading UK tribute band to Nirvana, and they will be bringing the music of the grunge titans to life in venues across the UK early next year. They will be playing the O2 Academy in Liverpool on the 14th January 2012. If you were not fortunate enough to catch the real Nirvana in the flesh, then this Novana show should give you an idea of what it would have been like – the band work hard to recreate the look and sound of a Nirvana show. Nirvana were one of the biggest and most influential bands of the 90s; the quiet-loud dynamic of their music and the cryptic and confessional nature of frontman Kurt Cobain’s lyrics influenced a whole generation of musicians. The band brought an alternative sound into the mainstream to the point where it is impossible to imagine rock music without Nirvana. Cobain always said that he was kicking against the hair-metal of the likes of Motley Crue and company and with the smash hit album “Nevermind” it seems that his mission was successful. Nirvana were part of a wave of bands who brought alternative sounds into the mainstream; thanks to them many underground bands like The Pixies and Big Black received the kind of attention they deserved. If you will be coming to Liverpool to see Novana then you are in for a treat, as the band will be performing Nirvana’s greatest songs and it should be a very enjoyable night for any fans of the band.

If you will be visiting Liverpool to see Novana, the UK’s leading Nirvana tribute band, you should look at serviced apartments for accommodation. Serviced apartments are a great alternative to hotel rooms as they can offer much more space and comfort than the typical hotel room. The usual serviced apartment has a living and dining area and a kitchen where meals can be prepared. Serviced apartments are ideal for anyone looking for a home away from home. Whether you are travelling alone or with family or friends, there will be a serviced apartment to suit you. On the Serviced City Pads website there is a wide range of serviced apartments available in Liverpool. You can take a look at the options by visiting the Liverpool city page on the Serviced City Pads website – to go directly to the page, just click here.

If you will be visiting Liverpool to see Novana in January 2012, then why not contact us here at Serviced City Pads to see what serviced apartments would be available for you? You can call us on 0844-335-8866 to talk to a member of our reservations team, or you can send us your enquiry through our website and we will respond as soon as possible.

Serviced apartments still available in Liverpool for Wretch 32 at the O2 Academy

Monday, October 3rd, 2011

Serviced apartments are still available in Liverpool for the night Wretch 32 plays the O2 Academy. Serviced apartments are an increasingly popular choice for those travelling around the UK, and if you will be coming to Liverpool to see Wretch 32, serviced apartments could be the ideal accommodation. Here at Serviced City Pads we have a range of serviced apartments in Liverpool that can be seen by visiting the Liverpool city page on our website.

Wretch 32 will be playing the Liverpool O2 Academy on the 20th October 2011 and there are still serviced apartments available for that night. Wretch 32 is the stage name of rapper Jermaine Scott, a new star of the UK music scene. Wretch 32 announced his arrival with his debut single “Traktor” which reached number 5 in the UK singles chart. The track is propelled forward by an incredibly catchy beat and sees the Wretch accompanied by the singer known only as L on the infectious chorus. The single was mainly released in digital format (though there was a limited vinyl release and apparently a CD, whatever that is…) and featured no less than 8 versions of the song. Wretch 32’s next song was similarly brilliant, particularly if you are a fan of the Stone Roses as the song is pretty much built around a looped sample of the mercurial Mancunians’ classic “Fool’s Gold”. The number 2 single “Unorthodox” featured the vocal stylings of fellow rapper Example and has lyrics about standing out from the crowd, being an individual, not playing by anyone else’s rules, etc. The video reinforces this powerful message, with some people dancing in unorthodox ways, a tattoo artist, and some people with, you know, piercings and stuff. Did I mention that they ride bikes? – they do, they literally ride bikes in the video – see it! Wretch 32’s most recent single, “Don’t Go” gave him his first number 1. It features the singer Josh Kumra, and is a heartfelt love song that has truly cemented Mr 32’s place in the mainstream. This success has led to his second album “Black and White” doing very well in the album charts, peaking at number 4 but continuing to sell. It will be interesting to see what 32 does next – anyone who will be attending his live shows should be able to hear some new material, as well as enjoying the hits that have established Wretch 32 as one of the most exciting artists around.

If you are coming to Liverpool to see Wretch 32 at the O2 Academy, have you considered serviced apartments for accommodation? Serviced apartments are the ever more popular choice for visitors to Liverpool as they can offer a home away from home. The typical serviced apartment has a lounge and dining area as well as a kitchen where you can prepare your own meals. There are serviced apartments that are ideal for people travelling alone, couples, or even for families and large groups. To see the variety of options available to you, visit the Serviced City Pads website and take a look at the Liverpool city page.

If you will be visiting Liverpool this year, either to see Wretch 32 or for any other reason, why not stay in a serviced apartment? To find out more about serviced apartments, contact us here at Serviced City Pads and we will be happy to find the best options available. You can call 0844-335-8866 to speak to our reservations team, or you can submit your enquiry through our website.

Is the Liverpool hotel market really becoming saturated?

Tuesday, September 28th, 2010

According to a recent quote attributed to a Director at Sanguine Hospitality Management, the Liverpool hotel market is close to saturation for a city of it’s size.

This is a remarkable statement – not for the fact that is true or otherwise, but more so the fact that if you had stayed in Liverpool only 5 or so years ago (you would have struggled to find a decent hotel in Liverpool) you just couldn’t believe that anybody would be saying such a thing in 2010. It is a stement that goes to show just how much Liverpool has developed as a city over the last few years.

Sanguine are opening Hotel Indigo in Liverpool in the early part of 2011. This is a 151 bedroom Boutique hotel in Liverpool’s commercial district (situated on Chapel Street next to the iconic Unity Building and just a stones throw from St Nicholas’ church on the Strand. This is undoubtedly a fantastic location for a new hotel in Liverpool city centre and will be popular with business people as well as tourists staying in Liverpool for a city break or holiday in Liverpool.

It is fair to say that a number of new hotels have recently opened in Liverpool – including the Liverpool Hilton and Novotel Liverpool centre, and there are other new Liverpool hotels set to open in 2011 and 2012.

If you start to add the number of new hotel beds to the growing number of serviced apartments in Liverpool, you can see that the city now has a good selection of accommodation across the city centre (and occupation rates remain at almost the same record levels as was seen during the 2008 Capital of Culture).

But is it a saturated market?

Chris Rose, Managing Direct at Serviced City Pads – a Liverpool based serviced apartment booking company doesn’t think so. He commented “I think the key missing word from the original quote is “current” and that is an important word relating to the size of the city, in terms of leisure and corporate visitors. Liverpool is becoming a popular tourist destination relying less and less on the visiting supporters of Liverpool FC. The city is also becoming an extremely popular destination for comferences, and that’s highlighted by the recent Lib Dem conference and the recently announced Labour party conference to be held in Liverpool. People’s perceptions of Liverpool have changed dramatically over the last 10 years, and that is good news for Liverpool’s hospitality sector.

With a greater choice of Liverpool hotels (as well as more serviced apartments and other self catering accommodation in Liverpool) this can only be good news for the consumer. It will lead to increased standards across the board and only the best will survice. That’s not a bad thing.

Serviced City Pads is company that is based in Liverpool and sees the changing face of the city on a daily basis. However, we are an outward looking company with thousands of serviced apartments listed across the UK. We deal with companies accommodation requirements in a number of UK cities and will be looking to add hotels to our portfolio in the near future.”

Pre book your taxi from Liverpool airport with E2A cabs

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Serviced City Pads, the serviced apartment booking company is working with Liverpool taxi company E2A cabs. The deal sees E2A offering discounted fares to Serviced City Pads customers on pre-booked black hackney cabs from Liverpool John Lennon airport into either Liverpool or Manchester city centres. Customers simply have to call or email E2A prior to arrival in Liverpool and quote SCP1 to receive a 10% discount. As well as saving customers money this initiative should also help guests to save time and beat the queues at the airport. As a customer of Serviced City Pads you will receive full details of how to order your airport taxi on your booking confirmation.

Chris Rose, Managing Director at Serviced City Pads commented, “We deal with many customers who fly into Liverpool and are staying in either Liverpool or Manchester city centre – particularly groups of football supporters from Ireland who organise cheap flights into Liverpool and then head the short distance up the M62 to Manchester. It made sense for us to be able to offer these customers a chance to pre-book a taxi that would save them time and money before heading off to their serviced apartment.

We are working on a number of initiatives with E2A that we hope to announce in the coming weeks.

LFC troubles mount with Champions League defeat

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

With the upcoming visit of Manchester United to Anfield this coming weekend, it is proving to be a tough start to the season for Rafa Benitez’s team who last night suffered their fourth consecutive defeat of the season at the hands of Lyon in the Champions League, with Lyons winning goal being scored deep into injury time which must put question marks against Liverpool FC qualifying for the last 16 of this season’s Champions League competition. This defeat follows hard on the heels of the now famous beachball incident which led to defeat at Sunderland. With the coming visit of Manchester United to Liverpool this coming weekend Liverpool need to bounce back to maintain any sort of challenge in the English Premier League.

It is clear that the Liverpool economy (much the same as in Manchester) is driven by foreign LFC supporters staying in Liverpool to visit Anfield, and if the team do slip out of this years Champions League at such an early stage it would have a detrimental effect on that local economy. This is particularly true when you condifer the additional away team supporters that flood into the city, renting apartments in Liverpool, visiting restaurants, going shopping etc. The issue is exacerbated when you think that these Champions League fixtures are played during midweek when the occupancy levels of serviced accommodation in Liverpool is at it’s lowest.

Serviced City Pads take many serviced apartment bookings from Liverpool FC supporters who travel to see their team play from afar (particularly Scandinavia and Ireland), so less games at Anfield each season will definitely hit business. If there are less people staying in the city then it means less tables booked at restaurants, less sold in the shops of Liverpool One.

Sir Alex Ferguson and his Manchester United team will be looking to go in for the killl on Sunday. There isn’t a free bed in the city this weekend and that just goes to show how important football is to the North West economy.

If you are planning to book a hotel in Liverpool or indeed a serviced apartment then check out www.servicedcitypads.com or call the reservations team on 0844 335 8866. They will be delighted to help with your accommodation requirements.

As well as Liverpool and Manchester, Serviced City Pads have apartments listed across UK locations (in cities such as Edinburgh, Birmingham and Glasgow). The apartments are perfect palces to stay if you are visiting a city for a short break or staying as part of a corporate contract.
