Watch Matilda the Musical in London’s West End

Thursday, February 2nd, 2012

The Royal Shakespeare Company of Matilda the musical has arrived at London’s West End Theatre land until Sun October 21 and a stay in London will not be complete unless you pop down to the Cambridge theatre to watch this thoroughly fantastic show. We booked our London Accommodation through Serviced City Pads who have a large range of London Apartments in the West End and the reservations team can be contacted on 0844 335 8866.
Matilda the musical is one of the best in years; it is originally set in a room of a pregnant woman who gives birth to a baby called Matilda and once born the doctor professes Matilda to be the most beautiful child in the world. Matilda is clearly a gifted intelligent child who lives with her humourless parents and gormless brother, Matilda is mocked for being intelligent gifted and different however she rises above these taunts and spend much of her time at the local library with the librarian Mrs Phelps. Serviced Apartments in London are becoming very popular with nearly fifty percent more space than a hotel room and they can often in our experience work out cheaper particularly for longer stays.
The musical unfolds where Matilda is a very confident child, so if she is scolded by her parents and other family members, she just gets her own back and normally makes them look so silly. I have been a visitor to London’s theatre land for many years and seen many shows from dramas through to musicals; I can thoroughly recommend this musical on stay in London.

View Leonardo da Vinci’s work in London at the National Gallery

Monday, January 30th, 2012

Leonardo da Vinci the Master Painter to the Court of Milan can be viewed at London’s National Gallery until Sunday 5th February where 9 of the 15 remaining paintings will be on display from the master genius painter. You can book a London Apartment through Serviced City Pads who will be delighted to select from a large range of London Serviced Apartment connected throughout the capital. You can contact the reservations team on 0844 335 8866 where a member of the team will send through apartment options linked to your requested size and budget.
Leonardo da Vinci was born in 1452 and raised in Florence who lays claim quite understandably the greatest painter of all time as he epitomized the Renaissance humanist ideal, his younger years were spent under the tutoridge of the renowned Florence painter Verrocchio. Leonardo undertook much work in Milan, Venice, Rome and Bologna. Among his works are Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, The Creation of Adam very few of his paintings survive due to his constant changes of pictures so many never stayed the same.
Leonardo is revered for his technological ingenuity. He conceptualized a helicopter, a tank, concentrated solar power, a calculator, the double hull, and he outlined a rudimentary theory of plate tectonics. Relatively few of his designs were constructed or were even feasible during his lifetime but some of his smaller inventions, such as an automated bobbin winder and a machine for testing the tensile strength of wire, entered the world of manufacturing unheralded. He made important discoveries in anatomy, civil engineering, optics, and hydrodynamics, but he did not publish his findings and they had no direct influence on later science.
Leonardo da Vinci is clearly a master in many forms from painting to engineering the man is almost superhuman and I can recommend a visit to the National Gallery and you will not be disappointed, why not after a glorious day return with a nice bottle of wine to your London Apartment to reflect on what might have been on your stay in London.

Visit the National Theatre to View the Landscape of the Year 2011 Photography Awards

Monday, January 16th, 2012

Showing at the National Theatre on London’s South Bank is the Landscape Photography of the year 2011; the show will run until January 28. This is a truly wonderful competition with some wonderful pictures to view. If you require accommodation throughout the capital Serviced City Pads supplies a large range of London Apartments from studios through to large Penthouse Apartments, please contact the reservations team on 0844 335 8866.
Landscape photography are pictures taken which show the undulation of the land and the surrounding scenery, there is usually very little in the way of modern focus and the majority of pictures have no human content. The content is usually of Waterfalls, Seascapes, Coastlines and mountains very much in the classic grove of landscape photography, landscape photographers like to use the light particularly dusk so they can show the landscape at its most natural. We travelled to down to London on the train for the exhibition and booked a London Serviced Apartment which was ideal as it gave a true home away from home feel and allowed us to come and go as we pleased.
The most impressive part of Landscape is the use of high resolution cameras which pin point incredible details in the picture scope and found this incredible with many of the pictures. Serviced City Pads have Serviced Apartments London throughout the capital and I can thoroughly recommend.

Christmas in Notting Hill

Thursday, December 1st, 2011

Christmas in Notting Hill
Notting Hill is located in West London and I can recommend a great place to do your Christmas shopping this weekend, the following guide will help you get the best out of your visit to the wonderful area that is Notting Hill.
Notting Hill goes from Ladbroke Grove down to Kensington Park Gardens; the area has a large amount of Victorian Town Houses and has become a very affluent part of London. This area is now very well known as it has the famous Portobello Market which has a large range of Crafts, Christmas Tree Stalls and also some fantastic restaurants and bars, you can spend stay in London and enjoy the weekend in Notting Hill.
I spent last weekend in Notting Hill with friends and stayed in a London Apartment which was a great alternative to a hotel with nearly fifty percent increase in space with the addition of a lounge and kitchen area. I went to explore Notting Hill and visited some really great individual designer stores and decided to purchase some jeans, a hat and believe it or not a great big Christmas for my Serviced London Apartment.

Watch Steven Merchant at the Hammersmith Apollo

Tuesday, November 29th, 2011

Steven Merchant the award winning comedy writer who created ‘The Office’ comedy programme ‘The Office’ has a new offering on November 29 at the Hammersmith Apollo called ‘Hello Ladies’ which is his highly awaited stand up tour. London Serviced Apartments are a great alternative to hotels due to the increase space.
Steven Merchant was born in Bristol in 1974 and by all accounts didn’t show any promise of becoming a stand up comedian as his school report highlights a very quiet intelligent boy who focussed on his academic work, apparently the school believed he would pursue a career in insurance similar to his father. Merchant left Warwick University and started his career at the radio station XFM as Ricky Gervais assisted who was interestingly head of speech (Merchant also started stand up at this time and by all accounts took quite a while to find success); the two developed a great rapport with each other and became great friends as also co-workers. Merchant went on to become a radio presenter at X fm and spent seven years with the radio station.
Merchant left X fm and went as a broadcast assistant at the BBC and initially commissioned a show called ‘Seedy Boss’ and enlisted Ricky Gervais as the main character, this show was pre-run for the highly acclaimed office which went on to receive worldwide success. I suspect Steven would be staying in a London Apartment after then show.
Merchant started his UK wide tour of ‘Hello Ladies’ in September 2011 (this also included a stop off in New York interestingly) and tonight see him the Hammersmith Apollo, if I could make the trip to Hammersmith I wouldn’t miss for the world enjoy. If you can pick up a ticket why not make an evening and stay in London.

The 1984 summer paralympics were hosted in both Stoke Mandeville, United Kingdom and Long Island, New York, United States. Also the first organised athletic event for athletes with a disability that coincided with the Olympic Games took place on the day of the opening of the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, United Kingdom. Dr Ludwig Guttmann of Stoke Mandeville hospital hosted a sports competition for the British World War two veteran patients with spinal cord injuries. The first games were calledthe 1948 International Wheelchair Games, and were intended to coincide with the 1948 Olympics in London. Dr Guttmanns aim was to create an elite sports competition for people with disabilities that would be equivalent to the Olympic games. Corporate Accommodation in London for the Bank of England

Tuesday, July 26th, 2011

For corporate accommodation in the City of London, a lot of businesses are centred around the Bank of England (formally known as the Governor and Company of the Bank of England.) This is the central bank of the United Kingdom, the model in which most central banks have been based worldwide.  The bank itself was established in 1694, more than 300 years ago which makes it the second oldest central bank in the world and today it still acts as the banker for HM Government. Originally the bank was privately owned and operated, however it was nationalised after the war in 1946 and has remained so ever since. Although in 1997 it became an independent public organisation which gave it independence in setting monetary policy.

There are plenty of serviced accommodation options close to the Bank’s headquarters which is located in the City of London, the city’s main financial district. It is located on Threadneedle Street which is in the heart of the City. Getting serviced accommodation in London is becoming increasingly popular amongst people working and staying in the city on a short to medium term basis. Booking a serviced apartment can often work out cheaper than staying in an equivalent hotel, with many more benefits. The main advantage is space, which if you are staying and living somewhere for an extended period of time, makes a huge difference. Staying in a hotel room is fine for a few days, but after that it can all stop to feel slightly claustrophobic. With a serviced apartment that is no problem.

When looking for London serviced accommodation, a great place to start would be through a booking agent such as Serviced City Pads who can provide a range of different options for serviced apartments in the City of London. We have a range of apartment options close to the Bank of England perfect for corporate stays. With 1 and 2 bedroom apartments located on Lombard Lane, Watling Street, St. Paul’s and other locations close by, try Serviced City Pads if you’re looking for serviced accommodation in the City of London.

City of London serviced apartments

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

Serviced apartments are beginning to play a more important role in the accommodation sector in London. Serviced City Pads, a corporate accommodation account management service which deals with both very short stay apartments in London, so stays from as little as 1 or 2 days, as well as intermediate stays in London, which are generally anything from a 1-6 month stay; has noticed that companies are starting to prefer staying in an apartment instead of staying in a hotel in London.

Apart from the obvious issues with space that staying in a hotel room presents to a corporate guest who is staying in London for more than a couple of days, there is also an economic consideration. If you are working away from home in the city of London for a couple of months, perhaps you are a project worker in London or a contractor, the serviced apartment booking company will be able to cut a deal that works out cheaper than staying in a good quality London hotel. Saving money for companies that are booking accommodation in London is important to Serviced City Pads. It is clearly important to companies that are operating in what is a very difficult economic climate and saving money helps the company turn a profit from any projects that it is working in the city of London. These companies that are working in the City of London tend to be IT or finance consultants who bring their own expertise to other city based companies.

Aside from a money saving exercise, at Serviced City Pads we feel that we can demonstrate that we will save your company time and resource by booking London accommodation. We see time and again that office managers spend hours trawling through the internet in the hope that they will find a cheap serviced apartment in London, and then when they do find an apartment at the right price, they don’t have the relationship that they could have with Serviced City Pads to answer any questions that they have about the quality and location of the accommodation. Serviced City Pads is a business that is built on relationships and trust.

Of course, I say you can ignore space when comparing staying in a serviced apartment in London v a hotel in London, but you can’t really can you? Whenever I have stayed away from home with work I have always craved the additional space that an apartment offers, and it is incredibly annoying having to watch your tv perched on the end of your bed in your hotel room, unless you are lucky or rich enough to be able to stay in a hotel suite, but that’s what a serviced apartment is and more, and at considerable cost savings to the business!

If you or your company is planning an extended stay in London then perhaps you should consider calling Serviced City Pads. There is no obligation or cost involved and we will be happy to discuss what you need from your London accommodation. Serviced apartments may be an alternative that you didn’t know existed, and working with us will save you time and money; that has got to be a good thing hasn’t it?
