Thursday, February 9th, 2012

Serviced apartments are still available in London for the London Marathon that will take place on Sunday 22nd April 2012. At Serviced City Pads we have a range of serviced apartments in London available through our website. Serviced apartments are a great alternative option to hotels as they can provide much more space and comfort and at similar prices. More and more people are turning to serviced apartments as their first choice for accommodation when visiting London and there are a many different apartments available across the city. If you will be travelling to the capital for the marathon then London apartments could be the ideal option for your visit.

The London Marathon is one of the most famous sporting events in the world, which sees runners take on a 26.2 mile route through the heart of the city. Established in 1981, the Marathon is a gruelling test for the world’s top athletes, however it is also an opportunity for the average person to test their mettle. Arguably the best thing about the London Marathon is the amount of money that it raises for charity – it holds the record of being the largest annual fund raising event in the world. It has been estimated that since 1981 the London Marathon has managed to raise over £450,000,000.00 for charity. The marathon has it all from the best athletes in the world pushing themselves to the limit, to the casual runner raising a few quid for their favourite charity and perhaps wearing fancy dress. The London Marathon is a great day for spectators and participants alike.

If you will be coming to London for the marathon and want to find a London serviced apartment for your stay, then why not get in touch with us here at Serviced City Pads? You can send us your enquiry through the website or you can call our reservations team on 0844 335 8866.

Lucian Freud at the London National Portrait Gallery

Tuesday, February 7th, 2012

Portrait painter Lucian Freud portrait work is shown from February 9th through to May 27th at London’s National Portrait Gallery, Jane McAdam Freud spent many months supporting her grandfather in preparing portraits for the show up to his death in 2011 where there will be 100 portrait paintings on show. I can recommend a stay in London to view this collection, we book a serviced apartment in London through Serviced City Pads who can be contacted on 0844 335 8866 where the reservations team will be delighted to help.
Lucian Freud was born in Berlin to Jewish parents who moved to Britain in the 1930’s due to the rise in the Nazism; in his early years he went to London Central School of Art and Goldsmith College where he developed his skills in portrait painting.
Freud’s early work is focused on surrealism and with people and animals being the painted form, which were created using thin layers of paint. Freud began to change his style completely to portraiture or nudes in the 1950’s; soon all of his work would be in this form. Freud would paint a range of people in his life: friends, family, fellow painters, lovers and children and the subject are autobiographical.
Freud is seen as one of Britain’s greatest portrait painters and I can recommend a trip to the National Portrait Gallery to view Lucian Freud’s life’s work, why not spend the weekend in London with Serviced City Pads for you London Apartment.

Where to Promenade Your Loved One in London

Monday, February 6th, 2012

Tuesday February the 14th will soon be upon us and what can be more romantic than to promenade the Capital with the love of your life in your arms. We have decided to spend the evening walking around London landmarks where we met and fell in love. We have booked a London apartment through Serviced City Pads who have access to apartments throughout London and can be contacted on 0844 335 8866 where one of the reservations team will be delighted to help you choose the the best apartment for your stay.
Myself and wife met back in the 1990’s when we both stayed and worked in London, we met initially through a friend at a bar in Hanover Square just near Oxford Circus and spent the evening discussing our love of music and theatre which we both shared a passion. We decided to get to know one another over the following few weeks and went walking and sunbathing in Green Park and walked across to Buckingham Palace where we watched the changing of the guard a Saturday summers afternoon. We then decided to walk down the Mall to Trafalgar Square to take in the idyllic feel where we walked arm in arm being in Love in the Capital. Serviced Apartments in London have become incredibly popular and more so that they have nearly fifty per cent more space than a hotel room and can often work out better value, so I have certainly made a change when I stay in London.
Needless to say I is thoroughly looking forward my romantic evening for Valentine’s Day.

Visit London and take part in the Richmond 10k Fun Run

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

It’s the timing of year to get back into shape and why not stay in London and visit the banks of the Thames in Richmond to indulge in a fun run for 10k.
I actually completed this race in March 2011 with some friends and spent a good couple of months training for the occasion, you will need to up early on the Sunday morning for the run to start at 9.30a sharp so we stayed in a Serviced Apartment in London in the West End and booked the 2 bedroom property through Serviced City Pads who have a large range of apartments throughout London and the reservations team can be contacted on 0844 335 8866.
When I arrived to registered there were a large amount of people of varying ages and standards so that gave me comfort to know that I would be in the middle of the group and in particular it would be an enjoyable experience. All the running is along the banks of the Thames at Richmond so not only is it good fun with large amount of people, you are also running along one of the most beautiful stretches of river in the world and I’m sure this adds to the electric atmosphere. I made a really clean start and at 5 kilometres felt really good however as we passed each marker when you hit 8k the pain starts to sink in and the last 2k weren’t the most enjoyable at all however we all made it in around 1 hour so no shame there. We also went back to my London Serviced Apartment to enjoy a good rest and most importantly a nice glass of Champagne Celebration.

Go Skating at the Natural History Museum

Friday, December 9th, 2011

Why not stay in London this festive season and visit the Natural History Museum who has installed a festive Ice Rink for the holiday season.
I travelled down to London on the train and booked into our London Apartment located near Russell Square, we then decided to pop to a Pizza Restaurant for a bowl of pasta and a small glass of red wine prior to our family trip to the Natural History Museum. The museum has many old artefacts and is world renowned throughout the world for its Zoology, Entomology departments so we looked around and viewed many old skeletons on yesteryear. The museum is absolutely fantastic however the main reason for our visit was to take a ride on the outdoor ice rink unbelievable similar in size to that of the hit TV show Dancing in Ice.
Once we had worked up an appetite we then popped to one of the many Christmas markets dotted around South Kensington to enjoy some lovely gluhwein and Christmas snacks. After a thoroughly wonderful day we then returned to our London Serviced Apartment to relax.

Spend an Evening at Hyde Park Winter Wonderland

Tuesday, December 6th, 2011

I can thoroughly recommend a trip to Hyde Park this Christmas in whilst staying in London, Hyde Park is situated next to Oxford Street and the West End, and so once you’ve had enough of shopping you can move through to Hyde Park for some entertainment.
Hyde Park is one of the largest parks in Central London and is split into two by the Serpentine Lake; the Winter Wonderland opens its gates from November 18th through until the 3rd of January in the New Year. Here are just a few of the attractions on offer such as a real Father Christmas who has set up shop here in the Hyde Park Winter wonderland; he will distribute gifts for Christmas what a delight. There will also be fairground rides where I and the wife watched the children having some great fun.
The two most enjoyable events at the winter wonderland were the Zippo Circus and also the Ice rink, they were absolutely fantastic and we knew after a busy night we could return to our London Serviced Apartment. We spent a few hours at the Winter Wonderland then headed back to our London Apartment to relax and enjoy some Christmas cheer in the form of a glass of Champagne.

Why You should Visit London’s Christmas Markets

Monday, November 28th, 2011

It that time of year when you start to think about visiting central London to purchase all the families Christmas present, this year you should definitely make a special trip to London’s Christmas Market’s. I personally went along to see what was on offer at the markets so left my London apartment to explore what was on offer.
The Christmas market’s have been in London for a couple of years, nearly all of the traders have come over Germany, French, Belgian. Italy whose Christmas markets are legendary and the majority of the products originate from these countries. Some of the products on sale at the stalls are refreshments such as Gluhwein which consists of usually a cheap bottle of red wine, sugar, whole gloves, ground cinnamon and juices from 1 whole orange. I tried some on a cold winters night and it felt really warm and comforting however I didn’t indulge too much. Next stop was some food and what about a really tasty German Sausage in a finger bun with lots of Dijon mustard absolutely fantastic . I still had some room for something sweet so went through Dutch Pancake stand surprisingly manned by a lovely Belgian couple. I have a couple of pancakes with syrup and ice cream. If you wish to purchase food you can buy fine continental Dutch Cheeses, French Breads and Spanish Chirizo.
Once we’d had a drink and food we then went on to enjoy the may crafts stalls dotted around the markets, most of the stalls are open until 9.00pm in the evening so we had a thoroughly wonderful evening. We booked our stay in London in a London Serviced Apartment which has become a great alternative to a hotel.

Visit London’s SOHO and stay in London Accommodation

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

Discover London’s Soho this Christmas with its narrow street’s with quirky stores and pubs. Serviced City Pads supply a large range of the London Accommodation in the form of London Serviced Apartments. The reservations team will be delighted to discuss either apartment requirement if it’s a leisure or corporate stay, please contact the team on 0844 335 8866.
London Accommodation has changed quite considerably over the last few years; the main factor in this is the increasing presence of London Serviced Apartments in addition to the provision of London Hotels. London Apartments have an increase room space of over fifty percent which includes a kitchen area and most importantly a lounge many guests who stay prefer this as opposed to a London Hotel as it feels almost a home away from home. I have personally spent many years either through business or leisure with the streets of London’s SOHO, which sits between London’s busy Oxford Street, the wonderful elegant street of Regents Street and along Shaftesbury Avenue. SOHO is a mixture of companies in the television post production field where I worked supplying delivery services for journeys throughout the UK. Warner Brothers is another large business that sits within this area and as many of you are aware is a great powerhouse of entertainment.
London Accommodation is not always the cheapest options particularly in Hotels, many guests love the options of an apartment due to the fact it can actually work out cheaper and in some cases nearly thirty percent cheaper. Another great reason to visit London’s SOHO is the restaurant, pubs and bars I personally have been in the area after the business day and looked at the food selection options, this could be in the form of a simple McDonalds with fries on the side or alot more interesting would be Chinese, Mexican, Vietietnamise, English, Italian, Moroccan the list goes on and on. The restaurants can be either eat in with fantastic entertainment or even take away.
SOHO has many great bars and pubs within metres of each other, I love the opportunity on a Friday evening after work in the summer months to pop to a local pub with my work colleagues and discuss the business week and then what will be the opportunity for the weekend, SOHO is my kind of area. Please contact the reservations team at Serviced City Pads where a member of the team will be delighted to discuss your London Accommodation requirement
