Book a serviced apartment for Manchester Pride 2012!

Thursday, April 5th, 2012

Manchester Pride will be running its 9th festival this year, celebrating and raising awareness of Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Trans-gender communities. The festival cites its main aim as to raise funding for Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Trans-gender charities which help the relevant communities in a variety of ways. The festival takes place annually over the August bank holiday weekend and is a great chance for anyone to celebrate the importance of acceptance to sexuality!
There are many ways for people to get involved in the festival. It is possible for groups, charities, political parties and commercial organisations to register to take part in the parade. So if you’re passionate about this worthwhile cause and you think your charity or political group think the same way, why not get involved and make a statement? There will be a theme to the parade, but this is yet to be announced. To give you an idea of what may be expected, the theme for 2011 was “Best of British” which saw a Vintage Tea Party extravaganza and excellent costumes and carnival floats from a variety of organisations who took part. The Lifestyle-Expo is another fantastic way to take part in this cause-worthy festival. The trade-free space dedicated to Lifestyle-Expo is a great opportunity for messages to be put across to the public; organisations set up stalls to give people advice on things like health, legal advice and community groups. If you’re a strong believer in LGBT rights and awareness-raising, you will find this part of the festival beneficial and inspiring. The best entertainment at Manchester Pride will be found at Pride Fringe where artistic and unconventional events are used to give a different take on the communication of anti-discrimination and LGBT related issues. The whole festival is always played out with a great sense of fun, but behind this support is given to the LGBT community. Whether you just want to enjoy the entertainment has to offer, or you really believe in the messages that are being given, Manchester Pride will cater to you!
If you attend Manchester Pride, why not make the August bank holiday one to remember and book one of our Manchester holiday apartments? With all the great facilities our apartments have to offer, you can relax after a busy day at the festival. Booking a Manchester serviced apartment will definitely be a decision you won’t regret!

Simon Amstell to perform in Manchester on 6th June

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012

Simon Amstell’s quick-witted and articulate comedic presence has tickled the British funny bone for years. He never fails to put a sarcastic twist on any situation he is presented with. Many will remember Amstell’s first TV appearance as Popworld co-presenter. His partnership with Miquita Oliver worked well and showed Amstell’s ability to make an audience laugh with his surreal and ironic style of comedy. Simon was the host of music-funny show “Never Mind the Buzzcocks.” His joke-battles with team leader Noel Fielding demonstrated Amstell’s passion for comedy and have firmly put him on the map as a favourite for British comedy fans. Turning his hand to acting, he starred in the independent film Black Pond. Amstell also starred in and co-wrote Grandma’s House, a BBC 2 drama which is set to release a second series later this year.
With this back catalogue of entertainment talent, Amstell’s stand-up tour is sure to do anything but disappoint. Simon Amstell has previously appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and enjoyed rave reviews, Amstell can even lay claim to a complete sell-out at The Bongo Club. In 2009 he performed “Do Nothing” at the Royal Court Theatre and later recorded the stand-up for DVD release and BBC televising. Simon Amstell is appearing in Manchester on 6th June 2012 at the Lowry Theatre. Get tickets and you are sure to have a great night. The band will be coming to Manchester on Saturday 6th October as part of their UK tour this year. Radiohead are one of the biggest British bands of the last few decades. With landmark albums like “The Bends”, “OK Computer” and “Kid A” they managed the rare feat of combining commercial and critical success not just in Britain but around the world. The band have built a huge following whilst managing to constantly change their sound. It is difficult to think of another band that has managed to change so much yet keep their audience with them. Over the last two decades Radiohead have gone from anthemic rock to abstract electronic and yet they have kept a loyal following that embraces each new album. This year’s UK arena tour will see the band performing their newest album “The King of Limbs” which saw the band continuing to mix traditional rock instrumentation with more a electronic and dance influenced approach. For any Radiohead fans who want to hear these new songs live and loud, the Manchester Arena show is an opportunity not to be missed.

Serviced apartments available in Manchester for New Order at the Manchester Apollo

Thursday, February 16th, 2012

New Order reformed in 2011, and this year will see them hit the road touring the UK and Europe. On the 26th April 2012 New Order will be playing the Manchester Apollo and if you want to see one of the greatest rock bands that the UK has ever produced it is recommended that you be there! If you will be coming to Manchester to see the band live and will require overnight accommodation, serviced apartments could be the ideal option for you. Here at Serviced City Pads we have Manchester serviced apartments across the city, many in great city centre locations. Serviced apartments in Manchester have many advantages over the traditional hotel room as they are able to offer much more space, and most have a kitchen where you can make your own meals – they are the perfect place to relax in during your visit to the city.

New Order rose out of the ashes of Joy Division after Ian Curtis’ suicide in 1980. To have been responsible for one of the best ever bands in Joy Division as Messrs Sumner, Hook and Morris are is impressive enough – to follow it up with a new band formed in such difficult circumstances that goes on to have the impact that New Order did is just astonishing. New Order are undoubtedly one of the most influential bands ever. Their fusion of rock and post-punk with dance rhythms and electronic music was pioneering and their influence can still clearly be seen today on any number of bands. However, it isn’t just for their creativity that the band is revered as they have some absolute classics in their back catalogue like “Blue Monday” and “True Faith” that will no doubt be performed at the Manchester Apollo show. Without Peter Hook (he left in 2007) the rest of New Order along with Gillian Gilbert (the fourth member since their inception) will be performing their greatest hits live.

If you would like to find a Manchester serviced apartment for your stay, then contact us here at Serviced City Pads and we will be happy to help. You can send us your enquiry through the website, or you can call our reservations team on 0844 335 8866.

Serviced apartments available in Manchester for Tribes at the Manchester Academy

Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

Serviced apartments in Manchester are still available for the weekend that Tribes will be playing the Manchester Academy. Tribes are a four piece from Camden and will be touring the UK this summer, performing at the Manchester Academy 3 on Tuesday 1st May 2012. If you will be travelling to Manchester to see Tribes play and will be requiring overnight accommodation then why not stay in a Manchester serviced apartment? Serviced apartments are a great alternative to the usual hotel option as they can provide more space at a competitive price. Also, unlike the typical hotel room, the average serviced apartment has a kitchen, a dining area, and a living area which makes them the perfect place to relax whilst visiting the city.

Tribes released their debut album “Baby” last month and they are tipped for big things in 2012. The band, made up of Johnny Lloyd, Dan White, Miguel Demelo, and Jim Cratchley, formed in 2010 and have wasted no time in making their mark on the indie scene. The two EPs they released in 2011 (“We Were Children” and “When My Day Comes”) drew critical acclaim, and meant that their debut full length was highly anticipated. The album has definitely delivered and the band will now have the chance to really make a name for themselves as live performers when they hit the road this year. They have already gained plaudits for their previous live performances, so anyone lucky enough to be attending their show at the Manchester Academy should be in for a great night.

Audiences delighted in Boyle’s dark and caustic sense of humour and he has also built up a following through his live shows. Ultimately Boyle was perhaps slightly too dark for the show, leaving in 2009 to concentrate on his own channel 4 comedy show “Frankie Boyle’s Tramadol Nights”. Frankie Boyle’s new live show “The Last Days of Sodom” will tour the UK this year and the Manchester shows will be a great chance for his fans to see him live and uncensored.
