Looking to Stay in Manchester Next Season?

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

The football season is over, but the crazy transfer speculation is just beginning. It’s bad enough that there’s no football being played, but now we’re going to have to survive months of rumour, speculation, and hearsay.

Already, the media have trained the spotlight on Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez. The Argentinian captain and talisman has been one of City’s players of the season (though arguably not THE player of the season – step forward Vincent Kompany) – but it now looks as though he does not see his future in Manchester. All the talk at the moment has Tevez linked to a move overseas. Already we have seen rumours of a move to Juventus come to nothing, but it seems possible we may not see Tevez in a City shirt again.

There will also be others who are likely to head for the exit as Roberto Mancini looks to streamline the squad. It remains to be seen where the likes of Craig Bellamy, Emmanuel Adebayor and Shay Given will be next season.

However, having reached the promised land of the Champions League, we should also see plenty of movement in the other direction, as Manchester City will look to make some big signings to continue the club’s rise to the top tier of European football. The papers are continually linking Mancini’s men with the Chilean livewire Alexis Sanchez, a star of the 2010 World Cup and who was instrumental in Udinese’s surprise clinching of 4th place in Serie A and a Champions League qualifying spot. Sanchez is also linked with Barcelona, however, so seeing him in sky blue next season is not a sure thing.

The red half of Manchester will no doubt see similar comings and goings. With highly rated teenage defender Phil Jones looking set to join Manchester United from Blackburn Rovers, and rumours of bids for Arsenal’s Samir Nasri and / or Inter Milan’s Wesley Sneijder, it is sure to be an exciting summer for United fans.

There will no doubt be changes made to United’s current squad. The future of Michael Owen has been resolved with his 1 year contract extension, but the fate of fellow striker Dimitar Berbatov is far from clear. This season has seen the retirement of club legends Gary Neville and Paul Scholes, and many are wondering whether the end of next season will see the retirement of the Unnamed Premiership Footballer.

All in all, there’s sure to be a lot of people moving in Manchester this summer, and fans will be wondering over the next couple of months who they will see running out onto the pitch on the opening day of the season.

If you’re going to be visiting Manchester next season for any matches, why not get in touch with us here at Serviced City Pads? We have a wide variety of serviced apartments in the city centre available through our apartment operators. Serviced Apartments are the increasingly popular alternative to the traditional hotel room. Don’t forget to visit Manchester Pride Fringe on your City Break

Tuesday, August 24th, 2010

Manchester Pride is an annual Gay Pride celebration in the city of Manchester, it is one of the longest running in the country and attracts thousands of visitors to the city’s Gay Village, which centres around Canal Street, each year. The event comprises a Pride march, and several days of various arts, music and cultural events all over the city as well as a festival during the August bank holiday weekend within the gay village itself. Serviced City Pads supply apartments in central Manchester.

Original objectives for the birth of Manchesters Pride celebrations were to raise awareness around the legal and political struggles faced by the LGBT community and to raise funds for local charities. The first ‘gay pride’ event in Manchester was held in 1990. EuroPride was hosted in Manchester in 2003, and Since 2004 the title ‘Manchester Pride’ has been adopted. Manchester Pride consistently raises money for the LGBT and HIV charities and this year raised the largest amount ever in the festivals history. Contact Serviced City Pads reservations team on 0844 335 8866 for short stay apartments.Pride parades for the LGBT community are events celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender culture. The events also at times serve as demonstrations for legal rights such as same-sex marriage. Most pride events occaur annually and many take place around June to commemorate the Stonewall riots, a pivotal movement in the modern LGBT rights movement. There is opposition to parades both within LGBT and mainstream populations. LGBT say that it shows non-representative aspects of the community. On the other side, it may sound ridiculous as there is no ‘heterosexual pride’, thus it is countered as homosexual agenda.

There is much more to Manchester Pride than the parade itself, since 2003 the festival has spanned a full ten days with a series of art, culture, heritage, politics, sport, music and film events celebrating the great diversity of the LGBT community in the run up to the Big Weekend Party. Pride Fringe allows performers to showcase their talents in music and dance. A series of lunchtime recitals celebrating music by LGBT composers past and present. This year arks the centenary of the birth of Samuel Barber – the composer most famous for his ‘Adagio for Strings’ used in films such as ‘Platoon’ and ‘The Elephant Man’. Each concert will include some of barbers glorious chamber music and songs, featuring performances by oboist Nicholas Daniel, tenor David Maxwell Anderson, pianist Ashley Wass & Leon McCawley, and the ensemble CHROMA. There will be a world premier of a new work by Manchester Pride’s new Composer-in-Association, Marc Yeats.Serviced City Pads supply city break accomodation.
Comedy and Theatre shows are showcased at the fringe.

Undone is a sharp witty look at one young man trying to navigate his way through relationships, lover friends via the underbelly of Manchesters gay scene. Through the mist of neon lights, dilated pupils and hangovers Dex attempts to discover true intimacy, peeling back layers of expectation and coming face to face with his fears head on. This will give you a fresh perspective of the Village life in a way you never have before; or at least can remember in this fast paced comedy drama.

Fanny is a girl who confides in her ma that she does not fancy boys. Her ma is excited as this means Fanny has the calling to be a nun. But after many years locked up in an irish convent, Fanny meets Sister Phil and there is a ’special bond’ between them she just can’t explaine. So Fanny runs away from the convent and arrives in Manchester. She is followed by Sister Phil and they discover the village whilst in hiding from Fanny’s mother who is desperatley trying to pray the gay away.Serviced City Pads supply luxury apartments in Manchester.

Will Manchester City forever stay in Manchester United shadow?

Wednesday, June 9th, 2010

I was recently in a taxi after a business meeting in Manchester city centre. The driver happened to be a staunch Manchester United fan. He was sure that the rise and eventual dominance of Manchester City was nothing more than inevitable due to the club being bankrolled by the oil rich arabs from the UAE. It is a view shared by many, not just disgruntled anti Glazer campaigning Manchester cabbies.

There is no doubt that Manchester is a city that is passionate about football. It is also fair to suggest that City have lived in the shadows of their illustrious neighbours from Old Trafford. While Alex Ferguson has been piling trophies high, Man City have spent years being relegated and then promoted to and from the English Premier League.

It may well be that the tide is turning. Manchester City are now buying top class players like there is no tomorrow. They are improving every year and it would be no surprise to see the club qualifying from for the European Champions League in 2011 and challenging for homours after that. Success is never guaranteed but the arabs will not tolerate failure.

The local economy of Manchester is fuelled by many foreign supporters of Manchester United FC who visit Manchester from Scandanavia, Ireland and Iceland to watch their team. Many of these visitors will spend the weekend in Manchester (beer is much cheaper in the UK than in Denmark!) and stay in Manchester serviced apartments or hotels in Manchester. The hotel room is a great option if you there are a couple of you and you can make a reservation for a twin bedroom. The serviced apartment in Manchester city centre option offers something slightly different, something that a hotel room can’t; and that is all about accommodating a group of 6,7 or even 8 people who are visiting manchester together and want to stay togeher in the same apartment. Staying in a serviced apartment option mean that the group will be able to socialise and relax together as a group in a spacious living room, cook a meal together and watch tv together. This relaxing atmosphere isn’t something that the formal surroundings of a hotel – even if it is a Budget hotel in Manchester – can offer.

A large group staying in a serviced apartment in Manchester city centre will often find that they will also save money (per person) versus booking multiple hotel rooms. A group of 6 will have to book at least 3 rooms and who is to say that they will be next to eachother?

Anyway, with the emergence of manchester City as a force once again, we expect that more foreign Manchester City supporters will be looking to come and stay in manchester when their team plays at home - particularly supporters from the United Arab Emirates. We suggest that these visitors should consider staying in a short stay apartment and that one in the heart of Manchester city centre is the best option.

Take a look at www.servicedcitypads.com for a wide range of good value apartments for your holiday in Manchester.

Follow Serviced City Pads on Facebook

Friday, December 18th, 2009

Serviced City Pads is delighted to announce that you can now follow the serviced apartment booking company on Facebook.

Chris Rose, Director at Serviced City Pads said, “It is clear that social networking is becoming an increasingly important strand of business, particularly the way in which we interract with our customers as a business. We have recently added a Twitter button and are building up a following. Facebook offers a very different alternative to Twitter in that we can dispense much more information about the serviced apartments that can be booked through Serviced City Pads across the UK.

We hope to build a loyal following both from guests that have already booked with us and those that visit our site and are curious as to what our product offering is and they can then share the information with friends in a manner that they are now very comfortable with.”

Serviced City Pads are based in Liverpool but are also very strong in other areas of the UK (including London, Birmingham, Edinburgh and Bristol). We deal with the majority of apartment operators in Manchester. Our Manchester Serviced Apartments (of which there are c.400 apartments in Manchester City Centre as well as Salford Quays) offer a wide range of accommodation that suits a number of different types of guest.

It is probably fair to say that Facebook has a relatively young following, and this may lead to groups booking their Serviced Apartments in Manchester with Serviced City Pads. Apartments are a great alternative to staying in hotels for large groups visiting Manchester (and other UK cities) as larger apartments can accommodate more people than astandard hotel room. This invariably means that the serviced apartment becomes a cheaper alternative to a hotel.

Much of our feedback from groups (particularly groups of girls) is that they love the fact that they can all get ready together in the apartment, and this is something that they wouldn’t be able to do in a hotel in Manchester. With the Manchester serviced apartments being centrally located it means that bars and restaurants are close by and there will be no extra cost of taking a taxi.

Groups can share the Serviced City Pads Facebook page amongst themselves before they decide which apartment they would like to book. It is a fantastic platform for companies like ours to speak to potential guests as well as keeping in touch with existing clients.

If you are interested in learning more about what serviced apartments offer that is different to a hotel please call 0844 335 8866.

You can find us on Facebook by clicking on our Facebook button on the homepage of www.servicedcitypads.com.

Manchester v Liverpool this weekend

Friday, November 20th, 2009

This weekend (Saturday 21st November) sees both Football Clubs from Manchester playing against both Clubs from Liverpool in the English Premier League.

Manchester City make the short trip to Anfield to play Liverpool FC in the Lunchtime kick off; whilst Everton take their depleted squad in the opposite direction to face Premier League Champions Manchester United at Old Trafford in the days Tea time kick off. Both games will be shown live on Satellite TV.

The first game will be intriguing as it is the new monied Manchester City who fancy taking Liverpool’s place in the so called “Big 4″. Liverpool FC look the most vulnerable of that current crop of 4, placing too much emphasis on Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres and little else to back up their team. Aquillani, the Italian international who was brought in to replace Alonso has spent  the majority of his time on Merseyside warming the treatment table sparking fears that he is injury prone. His time spent on the pitch in Italy backs up that theory. This match will see Joleon Lescott making his first visit to Liverpool since leaving Everton. The form he has shown since his big money move  will hardly have impressed England manager Fabio Capello as he picks his World Cup squad. The Man City team which has been put together at a cost of almost £200 million still isn’t quite gelling but will look to mount a Top 4 challenge through the season and will probably look to spend more oil money in the January transfer window. Serviced City Pads the professional serviced apartment booking company (based in Liverpool but with apartments in Liverpool and Manchester) predicts a 1-1 draw.

Manchester United must start favourites for their match against Everton, although matches between the two teams are always tight encounters at Old Trafford. Everton have been robbed of many of their star players (Arteta, Jagielka and Pieenaar) and may struggle against a man United team that is chasing Chelsea in the race to be crowned champions. The Irish and Norwegian supporters who are staying in Manchester serviced apartments this weekend will hope for some inspiration from former Blue Wayne Rooney. Everton are improving though and Serviced City Pads, the Manchester apartment booking company predicts a tight 0-0 draw. The Evertonians will be happy travelling back to Liverpool with a point.

If you are ever planning to visit Manchester to watch Manchester United you should always book your Manchester serviced apartment in advance. Accommodation in Manchester becomes oversubscribed when United play at home due to the large number of foreign supporters (particularly Manchester United supporters in Ireland and United fans from Scandinavia) who travel to Manchester to watch the match.

Serviced City Pads have a wide selection of apartments in Manchester city centre that are perfect for your stay in Manchester for the football. The apartments are spacious and homely and offer more space than a hotel in Manchester.
