Apartments available in Manchester for events at the Manchester Arena

Friday, April 13th, 2012

Diversity are best known as the winners of the third series of Britain’s Got Talent where they beat Susan Boyle to the top spot. However, the spectacular dance troupe also lays claim to the winning title at the Street Dance Weekend 2007. Their sensational choreography and performance technique always leaves audiences awestruck.
The group members originate from East London and Essex and include three sets of brothers as well as four other friends. It is obvious that the group know each other well as their team work and dance synchrony is without fault. The group age range varies from 14-27, meaning that each member’s individual attributes (including height) are used to give a smooth performance that complements the group work as a whole. Although older members of the public may be cynical about the appeal of a street dance troupe, Diversity are so utterly outstanding at what they do that anyone would be in awe of their performances.
Each dance routine from Diversity is full of surprises and gives an amazing twist on traditional dance routines. The famous transformers routine that was used for performance on Britain’s Got Talent sees the group use a crafty method of spacing and body popping to give the illusion that they are actually part of a machine.
Diversity put on a magnificent dance display at the Manchester Arena on 9th April. The night was outstanding! As the Manchester Arena is so huge, the atmosphere in the crowd was electric as Diversity put on a show that changed the crowd’s perception of dance. If you were lucky enough to get tickets, Diversity at the Manchester Arena will be a night you will never forget!
If you plan on going to any performance at the Manchester Arena, you will need somewhere comfortable to sleep that is within travelling distance from the Arena. Why not book one of our Manchester holiday apartments? With the guarantee of great facilities, privacy and being located in the city centre, a serviced apartment is worth booking! Manchester serviced apartments available this summer!

Wednesday, April 11th, 2012

You can’t avoid hearing about Manchester’s host of entertainment venues, big football games and swanky shopping facilities. But what sometimes gets missed is the cultural days you can enjoy as a family where you might learn something you never knew…you never knew. This thriving Northern city is a hub of culture and accommodates the needs of families on day trips with its multitude of museums.
Oxford Road is the home to Manchester Museum which cites itself as family friendly. With four floors and fifteen galleries, the kids won’t be able to move for things to do and not even dad will get bored! There are many live animal displays where children can get a feel for nature, even in a big city. The Egyptology displays may interest those who are fascinated by Ancient Egyptian stories of mummies, hieroglyphics and pyramid building. This is a highly recommended day out for all the family.
If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, perhaps you’ll be more interested in the Manchester United Museum and Tour Centre. Whilst those of us who don’t have the foggiest about football might shudder at the thought, the museum is sure to give the footy fans an interesting day of fun facts. You can follow the clubs history through the museum’s displays and even get the chance to have a glimpse at the incredible trophies the team have won over the years. However, if you’re really not into football, rest assured there is an excellent refreshment area where you can recuperate and think of other things.
If you fancy having a great family weekend at one of Manchester’s museums, why not book a Manchester holiday apartment to stay in? It’ll be somewhere relaxing for the whole family to enjoy and rest. You can see the range of Manchester serviced apartments on the Serviced City Pads website. If you would like to find out what options are available for your visit, you can send us your enquiry through the site, or you can call our reservations team on 0844 335 8866.

Thursday, April 5th, 2012

Manchester Pride will be running its 9th festival this year, celebrating and raising awareness of Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Trans-gender communities. The festival cites its main aim as to raise funding for Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Trans-gender charities which help the relevant communities in a variety of ways. The festival takes place annually over the August bank holiday weekend and is a great chance for anyone to celebrate the importance of acceptance to sexuality!
There are many ways for people to get involved in the festival. It is possible for groups, charities, political parties and commercial organisations to register to take part in the parade. So if you’re passionate about this worthwhile cause and you think your charity or political group think the same way, why not get involved and make a statement? There will be a theme to the parade, but this is yet to be announced. To give you an idea of what may be expected, the theme for 2011 was “Best of British” which saw a Vintage Tea Party extravaganza and excellent costumes and carnival floats from a variety of organisations who took part. The Lifestyle-Expo is another fantastic way to take part in this cause-worthy festival. The trade-free space dedicated to Lifestyle-Expo is a great opportunity for messages to be put across to the public; organisations set up stalls to give people advice on things like health, legal advice and community groups. If you’re a strong believer in LGBT rights and awareness-raising, you will find this part of the festival beneficial and inspiring. The best entertainment at Manchester Pride will be found at Pride Fringe where artistic and unconventional events are used to give a different take on the communication of anti-discrimination and LGBT related issues. The whole festival is always played out with a great sense of fun, but behind this support is given to the LGBT community. Whether you just want to enjoy the entertainment has to offer, or you really believe in the messages that are being given, Manchester Pride will cater to you!

Chuckle Brothers to play Manchester Opera House

Wednesday, April 4th, 2012

You might remember the Chuckle Brothers. They were kids TV favourites for their somewhat repetitive, but none the less light-hearted comedy performances. The long-running “Chuckle Vision” will be imprinted on the brains of many parents who will never forget the “to me” “to you”, back and forth routine that child audiences across the country would try to imitate. Barry and Paul use their slap-stick comedy and visual gags to appeal to younger audiences, or even the young at heart. Whilst situation-comedy lovers may criticise The Brothers for their simplification of comedic strategy, it can’t be denied that their performances are loved by many. The Chuckle Brothers celebrated the 21st anniversary of “Chuckle Vision” by launching the country-wide tour- “An Audience with the Chuckle Brothers.” This ran from January 2010 until May 2010.
Perhaps you didn’t get a chance to catch Paul and Barry live and feel like reminiscing about the days when seeing someone fall over or end up with a cream-pie in their face, was enough to make you laugh. This is a great opportunity for a family night of fun; you can show your kids what you grew up with whilst introducing them to a comedy duo they’re sure to love. The Chuckle Brothers are set to return to Manchester to perform in “Return of the Pirates of the River Rother 2.” The performance will take place at the Manchester Opera House on Sunday 27th May 2012. An event you won’t want to miss!
Once you’ve taken the whole family to see the show, why not rest those weary heads on a fluffy pillow in one of our fabulously furnished Manchester holiday apartments? We have many Manchester serviced apartments that will suit your family’s needs. You can find what options are available to you by calling our reservations team on 0844 335 8866 or sending us your enquiry through the website.

Simon Amstell to perform in Manchester on 6th June

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012

Simon Amstell’s quick-witted and articulate comedic presence has tickled the British funny bone for years. He never fails to put a sarcastic twist on any situation he is presented with. Many will remember Amstell’s first TV appearance as Popworld co-presenter. His partnership with Miquita Oliver worked well and showed Amstell’s ability to make an audience laugh with his surreal and ironic style of comedy. Simon was the host of music-funny show “Never Mind the Buzzcocks.” His joke-battles with team leader Noel Fielding demonstrated Amstell’s passion for comedy and have firmly put him on the map as a favourite for British comedy fans. Turning his hand to acting, he starred in the independent film Black Pond. Amstell also starred in and co-wrote Grandma’s House, a BBC 2 drama which is set to release a second series later this year.
With this back catalogue of entertainment talent, Amstell’s stand-up tour is sure to do anything but disappoint. Simon Amstell has previously appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and enjoyed rave reviews, Amstell can even lay claim to a complete sell-out at The Bongo Club. In 2009 he performed “Do Nothing” at the Royal Court Theatre and later recorded the stand-up for DVD release and BBC televising. Simon Amstell is appearing in Manchester on 6th June 2012 at the Lowry Theatre. Get tickets and you are sure to have a great night. Tears of laughter will be streaming down your face and your sides will be splitting! After a night of hysterics, you’ll need somewhere to relax. So why not book one of our Manchester holiday apartments for the night? Serviced apartments available for Keane at the Manchester Apollo

Tuesday, March 20th, 2012

2012 will see the return of Keane, one of the biggest British acts of recent years. The band made a huge impact on the charts from the beginning. Their debut album, 2004’s “Hopes and Fears” won the number 1 spot on the album chart on its first week of release, and top 10 singles like “Somewhere Only We Know” and “Everybody’s Changing” brought the band mainstream success. The band’s popularity is not limited to the UK however, as “Hopes and Fears” would sell over 5 and a half million copies around the world. The band continues to challenge themselves with their next albums which saw them change their approach. “Under the Iron Sea” saw them make music that was more atmospheric and darker than their debut, whilst its follow up “Perfect Symmetry” was an upbeat pop record.

The Keane boys are set to release a new album this year, entitled “Strangeland”, which should be out this May. To celebrate the release of their new record, the band will be touring the UK, coming to Manchester on 30th May 2012. They will be playing the Manchester Apollo and that night will be a great chance for all Keane fans to hear their new material being performed live, as well as some of their best songs from previous albums. If you haven’t got yourself a ticket for the show yet you should move quickly as demand is high.

If you will be travelling to see Keane play the Apollo and require accommodation, there are serviced apartments Manchester available for the night. You can see the range of options available by visiting our website – at Serviced City Pads we have serviced apartments across the city.

A Weekend in Manchester

Monday, March 19th, 2012

Manchester has developed into a truly international city and over the last 2 decades, the city centre has changed beyond all recognition and has always been a popular city. The following parts of Manchester may be of interest if you are visiting in the near future. I contacted Serviced City Pads who supply Serviced Apartments in Manchester with a large range in the city centre, if you contact the reservations team on 0844 335 886 a member of the team will be delighted to help you.
Northern Quarter – This area of the city has developed into a bohemian quarter home to many independent clothing stores and craft shops, during the evening the Northern Quarter is very popular as many trendy bars and clubs are in the area.
Museum of Science and Industry (also known as MOSI )– Manchester has long been associated with Science and the museum has a large focus on steam and avionics where the city of Manchester has excelled. The museum also has a actual piece of the first rail line from Manchester to Liverpool, visitors can sit on the actual stream train that would have made the journey, my mother and her sister couldn’t resist and enjoyed the quarter of a mile track to the edge of the museum to really feel what it would have been like on the very first steam trains. One particular event at the museum is how cotton is made; this profiles the arrival of cotton into the cotton factory where machines turn it from thick bales into fine cotton. This cotton is then used on machines to turn it into sheets of cotton for either clothing or bedding purposes, Manchester produced so much finished cotton, it names was synonymous throughout the world and countries as far as Australia and New Zealand would call cotton ‘Manchester’. After your trip through the last few hundred years of Manchester you can relax and have lunch or afternoon tea and cakes in the restaurant, I would allocate either morning or afternoon for this very interesting tour of Manchester’s past.
Manchester Chinatown – This area just off Mosley street and near Piccadilly is several streets mainly of restaurants and wholesale food stores but well worth a visit for the feel and also the very popular restaurants. The Chinese community started to come prior to the Second World War and opened Chinese laundries, this migration continued after the war with the Chinese farmers from rural parts of Hong Kong arriving as their land was being swallowed up from large building work.
Stay in Manchester and have a wonderful weekend.

Holiday apartments available in Manchester Piccadilly for visitors to Canal Street

Friday, March 16th, 2012

The Piccadilly area of Manchester is a great location for anyone visiting the city – it’s full of great stores and bars and restaurants.

One of the most popular areas in Piccadilly is Canal Street, which is the centre of Manchester’s Gay Village. Canal Street runs alongside the Rochdale Canal, and has a huge range of gay bars and restaurants making it a big part of Manchester’s nightlife. Canal Street is an international iconic location that attracts gay and lesbian tourists from all over the world. Canal Street and the Gay Village have played a prominent role in the promotion of gay rights and the fight against prejudice. Many have argued that the opening of the Manto Bar in 1990 was a key moment in the development of the Canal Street visitors enjoy today. A key feature of Manto’s design is the front of the building with its large glass windows. At the time, due to the discrimination against the gay community, most gay bars or clubs kept a lower profile. Manto embodied the new confidence and openness that has made Canal Street such a popular destination for visitors to Manchester.

If you are coming to Manchester Piccadilly to visit Canal Street, there are plenty of serviced apartments in the area that can accommodate you during your visit. If you visit the Serviced City Pads website you can see a range of serviced apartments near Manchester Canal Street and Manchester Piccadilly apartments. Serviced apartments are a great choice for accommodation as they can be a home away from home in a way that hotels can’t. The typical serviced apartment has a kitchen and a lounge / dining area which is a great place to relax during your Manchester visit.

You can find out more about our Manchester apartments by calling our reservations team on 0844 335 8866 or by sending us your enquiry through our website.
